The Ten Most Bizarre Ideas For Using Nuclear Weapons

Nuclear weapons were invented with one clear purpose in mind- wiping out the enemy. Since their creation, nukes have been used primarily in clandestine tests, and as a way for nations with nukes to flex their militaristic muscle.

Before (and perhaps a bit after) the nuke holding nations of the world realized the damaging long term effects of radiation exposure they had all kinds of wacky ideas in mind about what to do with their destructive new toys.

Nuking Canada for oil, detonating a nuke on the moon, and creating a massive lake in Egypt by detonating 200 hydrogen bombs in the Qattara Depression were all kicked around by madmen scientists who really should have known better than to use nuclear technology as a development tool!

John Oliver Celebrates A Decade Of Marriage Equality - Nintendo Style

(Video Link)

On a recent episode of John Oliver's new weekly news show Last Week Tonight  he celebrated a decade of legal same sex marriage, and revealed the controversy surrounding a new Nintendo game called Tomodachi Life, a game world where characters are able to get married but same sex marriage isn’t allowed.

Fans weren't happy with this lack of virtual reality marriage equality, so Nintendo issued an unprecedented apology stating they would rectify the marriage equality issue in upcoming editions of the game.

John responded by showing us how the citizens of Nintendo's world feel about this corporate change of heart, and many video game LOLs were had by all!

This Is What The Nursery Of The Future Looked Like In 1930

Boy oh boy did the future ever look bright through the eyes of folks living in the early 20th century, back when futuristic meant flying cars and food replicators instead of selfies and Google.

The futuristic world envisioned in the past sure does look like a lot of fun, it’s too bad we have to settle for our flash free 21st century blahs while we wait for our mechanical overlords to conquer the planet.

Here we see the nursery of the future as realized for the Ideal Home Exhibition held in Olympia, London in 1930. The nursery comes complete with comfortable baby tending helmet and gloves for mom, coffin like crib sure to quiet even the noisiest little bugger, and a shiny chair to warm your aching buns.

The only things missing are a remote controlled robot bartender and a cigarette rolling machine!

Andy Warhol...Wrestling Fan?!

(Video Link)

Andy Warhol was a fascinating man, with extremely diverse interests, skills and collaborations. Take one look at the crowd hanging around the Factory, and the crowd that surrounded him when he made appearances at events, and you know Warhol loved variety in his life.

Variety is great and all, but Warhol really never struck me as the type who would enjoy watching wrestling, especially 80s era WWF matches starring colorful characters like Hulk Hogan and Rowdy Roddy Piper.

However, this video shows that Warhol did at one time enjoy watching men pretend to beat each other wrestling, and he spoke with intrepid reporter Mean Gene Okerlund after a match when he "accidentally" entered the wrong door and found himself in the thick of some pretend beef ala Hulk Hogan and Lou Albano.

Man, those were the good ol' days!

Peter Dinklage Explains Game Of Thrones In Under A Minute

(Video Link)

Game of Thrones is a hit show despite the fact that many viewers find it difficult to follow, due to the large number of characters and houses to keep track of, and the fact that characters are constantly dying or having their storyline shoved aside for an episode or two.

Playing a lead role on the show therefore seems like it would be a difficult job, but fan favorite Peter Dinklage (who plays Tyrion Lannister) appears to have a handle on the whole situation, and he's able to explain the whole GoT bag of tricks in under a minute.

The best thing about Peter's recap of the show is it's 99.5% spoiler free, so if you haven't seen the show yet you can hear his explanation and still watch without losing that new show smell!

Woman Uses Self-Applied Makeup To Transform Into All Sorts Of Characters

Who needs a fancy costume and a latex mask when you've got a makeup kit and some incredible application skills? Makeup artist Elsa Rhae certainly doesn't seem to need much more than her kit, a reference photo and a vivid imagination, and her makeup transformations are truly spectacular!

If she walked into a room wearing her White Walker makeup people would nearly jump out of their skins, and her simple yet extremely effective makeup illusions prove becoming a terrifying creature, or eco-friendly superhero, doesn't take much more than a skillfully applied makeup and the proper attitude.

Twisted Versions Of Your Favorite Cartoon Characters

Pop culture characters have a ton of visual appeal on purpose- they have been meticulously designed from their basic shapes to the exact number of hairs on a character’s head, and this formula for visual appeal makes the character recognizable no matter how they’re interpreted.

Illustrator Dan Luvisi loves to mess with iconic character designs in a most disturbing way, turning them from the fun and friendly toons we know and love into dark, twisted versions straight out of our nightmares.

Luvisi's kooky cartoon vision ranges from realistic to squashy-stretchy, and his designs are all oh-so shiny, with their glistening high shine look somehow adding to the overall creepiness of the designs.

Human Head Cross Sections Made Out Of Found Objects

Preparing a cross section of a human head from a body donated to science generally involves a lot of grisly skull sawing, dyeing to enhance the look of each individual organ and section, and preservation via plastination, but the human head cross section sculptures created by EMnXW are mess free and viewable by even the most squeamish.

EMnXW is an art duo made up of Edwige Massart and Xavier Wynn, and their cerebral sculpture series appropriately entitled "Heads" are cleverly created using found objects like electronic parts, sea shells, yarn, springs and all kinds of other junk symbolically cluttering the minds of these poor dead dummies.

This Is What Toy Story Would Look Like As A Horror Movie

(Video Link)

Pixar's in the business of making family friendly animated films, so it's unlikely they'll ever put out a true horror movie, but if you recut their original films just so the mood changes dramatically.

Add some generic slasher flick soundtrack music, title cards full of ominous statements and a bunch of scenes taken completely out of context and you get what looks like a trailer for a decent animated horror version of Toy Story.

In this horror trailer for Toy Story, as edited by Bobby Burns, you'd expect the misfit toys from Sunnyside Daycare to be the bad guys, but it looks like having his string pulled one too many times has made Woody snap!

A Husky Raised Around Cats Thinks She's A Cat

If stories like The Jungle Book and Tarzan are to be believed being raised around one type of animal can have a significant effect on your behavior, causing you to act a lot like your foster family.

This shy husky mix is named Tally, and her owner Redditor Dong_of_justice says that being raised around cats has made Tally a big pussy. She sits around the house with her legs tucked up underneath her, hangs out in places she doesn’t fit like under the dining room table and in boxes, and she never barks.

Maybe she thinks she’s a cat, maybe she’s just a bit kooky, whatever the case Tally sure is cute!

20 Fascinating Facts About The Legend Of Zelda

For most gamers the mere mention of the title The Legend of Zelda brings to mind the iconic soundtrack from the original NES game, a diminutive pointy eared hero in green, shrub stabbing, chicken tossing and old men in caves who arm kids with swords.

The Legend of Zelda is such an iconic video game franchise that most gamers who have played through every one of Link's adventures feel like they know the game quite intimately, but as Gamma Squad has been rather fond of showing us lately there's a whole lot about The Legend of Zelda that has remained relatively unknown.

It's not safe to go alone- read 20 Fascinating Facts You May Not Know About 'The Legend of Zelda' and arm yourself with knowledge!

Hasbro's Russian Roulette Style Family Game - Pie Face

(Video Link)

Back in 1968 Hasbro debuted a game meant to bring families together, a game that revolved around a gag which had been used by clowns for decades- the old pie in the face.

What sounded like a good idea to game designers ended up playing out like a clown version of Russian Roulette, so it should come as no surprise that Pie Face didn’t do very well with consumers.

Apparently a family who takes “goo in the face” doesn’t spend more time together, and there’s something rather creepy about sitting around waiting for little Suzy or Papa to take a mini pie in the face, especially if they're sporting a maniacal grin like the family on the box!

The 40 Year Old Virgin Is Actually A Horror Movie

(Video Link)

You may remember watching the director’s cut of The 40-Year-Old Virgin and sharing a few laughs with friends, because the final version of the film was released as a comedy, but T40YOV was originally headed in a much darker direction full of murderous subtext and sociopathy. When the filmmakers tested the film with audiences they discovered that audiences laughed at Steve Carrell’s performance no matter how psychotic his character became during the film.

They decided to add some haha (LOL) bits and recut the whole thing as a comedy, and this dark secret ended up on the digital cutting room floor- until right this second. Watch The 40-Year-Old act as originally intended- like a psychopath.
