Babysitting can be strange, especially if you don’t know the kid(s) and they don’t know you, but kids can warm up to you in no time. Pets, however, don’t know who the heck you are and they don’t care, they only know that you’re not their owner and you’re either in their domain or they’re forced to spend some time in yours.

A redditor by the name of Leicor spent a rather interesting evening pet sitting his girlfriend’s cat and discovered that the frisky feline was extremely parched from all that reckless "frolicking", and so cute she needed to star in her own video!

Courtroom sketch artist is one of the most niche jobs you can find in the field of creative art, but their illustrative skills are unmatched, and the way they capture the mood of the courtroom and the personalities of those involved in a court case makes you feel like you’re in the room watching the case unfold.

Gary Myrick is one of these extremely talented courtroom artists, and after working in Texas for over 38 years he, like many other court sketch artists, can’t seem to find much work these days, as the illustrators of the past are being replaced by video cameras.

Gary is the focus of a documentary produced by Ramtid Nikzad for The New York Times, and he hopes that the op-doc will reveal how important the human element is to courtroom reporting, because as he puts it:

I’m trying to draw to communicate to those that aren’t there, what it was like to be there. And maybe some of that has been getting lost.

It’s crazy to think that, with all those people crawling all over New York’s densely populated islands, there is one island which has been all but forgotten by the millions of citizens trying to get their bite of the Big Apple.

It’s called North Brother Island, and it sits in the East River like a monument to New York’s invisible past. During the 19^th and early 20^th century patients with infectious diseases were housed on the island, then it briefly housed returning WWII veterans before being left to slowly rot into the East River when it was closed to the public in the 1960s.

These stunning photographs by Christopher Payne show us what North Brother Island looked like not long ago- they were taken in 2008 and collected in the book North Brother Island: The Last Unknown Place in New York City.

Remember that heroic cat Tara who earned a place on the pitcher’s meownd at a Bakersfield Blaze game by saving a young boy from a dog attack? That cat is truly a hero, but imagine how much more good Tara could do if she housed the power of a Super Saiyan from Dragonball Z inside her little feline frame.

YouTube user MinhAndHisVideos created this video game inspired vision of that fateful day when superpowered cat met sneaky dog on the field of battle known as the driveway, and now I can’t stop thinking of daily encounters with neighborhood pets and residents as scenes from an old school console RPG!

Kids are taught about wildlife conservation, and how to care for pets, at an early age, but one kid in particular took this SPCA mentality to the limit- by opening a shelter in his garage.

His name is Ken, and his family’s home in the Philippines now shares space with the Happy Animals Club, a no-kill shelter for dogs (and other four legged vagrants) to enjoy, while Ken enjoys the pleasure of their company.

Thanks to donations from animal lovers around the world Ken was able to rent a 10,000 square foot lot and upgrade his shelter, but he can always use more help so if you'd like to donate to Ken's critter loving cause click here.

Now that McDonalds has introduced us to their newest appetite suppressant marketing campaign mascot Happy the anthropomorphic Happy Meal the interwebs have responded in turn by revealing Happy’s sordid past.

This eye opening exposé shows the kind of company Happy used to keep, namely clowns who crave human flesh rather than burgers, bag headed slashers and dead girls who crawl out of wells.

It’s the kind of scandal large corporations like McDonalds hate to have exposed, and may spell disaster for the burger mongers when their young target audience can’t sleep at night because they're affraid Happy might be lurking under their bed!
