A Man Gets Reincarnated As A Fly, Proceeds To Take Down An Entire Mob As The Fly

It’s a movie plot, actually. How would anyone know if the fly near you was once actually a human being?

Twitter user Joe Carnegie informed the Internet about SS Rajamouli, a Tollywood director (different Indian style and language from Bollywood) the director of the movie where that viral clip was from - where a man gets killed by a gangster, and then after being reincarnated as a fly gets his revenge (as a fly, I might add). This unique plot added with the whole movie’s aesthetic attracted the eyes of the Internet, and maybe even yours after this!

Teen Girl Goes Viral For Her Seemingly Fake “From The Fridge” Tweets

Twitter user @thankunext327 went viral for her tweets from her smart fridge. It started as the user’s cry of protests after her mom took her phone away, making her unable  to tweet. From there, she started tweeting from various (and quite unique devices) from her home : her 3DS, and Wii.

But her mother had the upper hand, apparently, and made her resort to tweet via voice dictation from her “LG Smart Refrigerator”:

This tweet of course (either via by the sheer hilarity of it or it piqued the interests of many), went viral - and even got her story featured on the news! But, as Buzzfeed’s Stephanie McNeal comments - her tweets might be fake:

But what these stories failed to note is that it is surprisingly easy to pretend to tweet from basically anywhere by creating your own Twitter source. A step-by-step guide posted by one Twitter user and this Reddit post lay out a "fridge" example.

Here Are Some Hacks That Can Give You Happiness

Tired of people giving you the “smile and you’ll be happy” advice when it comes to achieving happiness? CNN listed some “alternative hacks” on being happy - and yes, smiling is still on the list. If you don’t want that option at the moment, here are some of the different solutions from the list:

Load up on leafy greens
Dark, leafy greens such as spinach and kale are rich in folate, providing 33% of the recommended daily allowance (RDA). This nutrient is linked to a decrease in negative moods and depression because it helps produce dopamine in the brain. One 2012 study found that middle-aged people who consumed the most folate had a lower risk of depression symptoms than those who ate the least.
Buy flowers for yourself
A team of Harvard researchers found that keeping fresh flowers at home does
wonders in keeping away anxiety and negative moods. People in the study also felt more compassionate toward others and they felt a boost of energy and enthusiasm at work.
Eat some 'shrooms
A surprising source of vitamin D? Mushrooms. The tasty vegetable is the only plant source of natural vitamin D, and foods that contain vitamin D boost serotonin in the brain, putting you in a better mood. It's easy to increase your intake of vitamin D this way—throw some mushrooms into your breakfast omelets or lunchtime salads.

Of course, there’s always the factor that it’s up to you to find whatever that can give you that extra shot of serotonin - but this excerpt (and the full list) is just to give you a head start on possible solutions, especially when you’re feeling down.

This Tokyo IT Company Will Pay You Monthly To Take Care of Your Own Cat

This company will compensate you - well, its employees for taking care of their own cat. Ferray Corporation, a Tokyo-based IT company has a neko teate (“cat compensation”) system - where employees with a rescue cat receives an extra 5,000 yen (US$46) to help them with pet expenses.

The rationale behind this system is from when one of the company’s employees adopted a rescue cat, and other employees started having their own rescue cats. Not only does a company let its employees’ pets to accompany them to work, but gives compensation as help for pet expenses? Now that’s a dream company to work for!

Here’s How We Can Thwart Facial Recognition

In an era where technology has evolved to heights it has never reached before, facial recognition systems are one of the technology’s newest and latest achievements. While beneficial and helpful, it was found that this system also carried racial biases. Trained on disproportionate data sets, facial recognition systems are found to be terrible at identifying black faces - errors can come potentially incriminate the wrong person because of this.

Leonardo Selviaggo has the option besides properly proportioning the training data sets- elusion:

Selvaggio thought up the project, which he calls URME Surveillance
Selvaggio sees two routes to elude facial-recognition programs. The first is to disappear: go offline and off the grid. Selvaggio prefers the second option, which is to flood the system with weird, incongruous data. Wear someone else’s likeness or lend out your own. (Before donning a prosthetic mask, check to see whether your city or state has anti-mask laws, which may make wearing one illegal.)
Even without a mask, though, you can confuse some facial-recognition programs by obscuring parts of your face with makeup, costuming, hairdos and infrared light. Artificial-intelligence programs look for elliptical, symmetrical faces, so obscure an eye, cover the bridge of your nose, wear something that makes your head look unheadlike. “They have all of our information,” Selvaggio says. “So then let’s make more information that isn’t even true, and then let’s make more information on top of that.”

Is Yogurt The New Remedy For Cold?

Medicine can be quite expensive, especially for not-so grave sicknesses that come to anyone. For colds, some people prefer to chuck it up to rest and acetaminophen, along with other herbal alternatives to ease the symptoms of the cold or try to not prolong the sickness. It seems that CNN’s Lisa Drayer has found a new alternative remedy to a cold, and it’s both common and comparably cheap in supermarkets:

"When it comes to yogurt specifically, I'd say there's not a lot of research that we can point to that indicates yogurt reduces symptoms of a cold," said Mickey Rubin, vice president of nutrition research for the National Dairy Council. That being said, "There are some things (in yogurt) we can point to that, in theory, would be beneficial."

Yogurt has probiotics (an immune system booster), zinc (another immune system booster) - which can also reduce the duration of cold symptoms. But more research is needed to actually make sure that yogurt can be the next remedy for a cold, as Rubin tells CNN. Here’s Lisa Dryer’s final advice on yogurt and colds:

So choose yogurt for its soothing texture and nutritional attributes, which include calcium and vitamin D, along with possible cold fighters like zinc and probiotics -- but not necessarily as a primary therapy for a cold.

This Japanese Restaurant Is So Private That Food Will Be Served Without Eye Contact At All

If you prefer to have the minimal amount of social interaction whenordering and eating your food at a restaurant, this Japanese restaurant might just suit your fancy!

Reddit user yudoit shared this tidbit of information on the website - and the Internet took the opportunity to share their own takes (and experiences with this restaurant in the spotlight). The mentioned restaurant is Ichiran Ramen, where, as another reddit user triceratopshunter shared on the thread- one can order from a vending machine and then get seated in a row of booths. Your order of piping hot bowl of ramen is then handed out in front of you with minimal human contact.

Now that’s a great way to avoid embarrassing yourself trying to order a bowl of ramen - provided of course, that you’re in Japan. Whether you want to avoid interactions or not, this unique restaurant can be one of your next places to try out!

Five Things You Can Do To Be A Better Friend

Friends are great, and it will not hurt anyone to have them. They’re there for you for support, or for anytime you need each other’s company. It’s great to have one - and apparently, also beneficial to your health, as Suzanne Degges-White, chairwoman of the Department of Counseling and Higher Education at Northern Illinois University told CNN, "If you have one person you can talk to and be yourself with, that will give you all the health benefits that you had if you talk with 12 people every day.".

Friendships are two-way relationships - it’s give and take. So how can we be great (or better) friends to our own friends? CNN gave five points that we can take to the heart, all in the name of friendship:

Be authentic: This is hard for a lot of people, because in order to be yourself around someone, you have to trust others. "Be willing to engage in self-disclosure. If you can't bring your whole authentic self to a relationship, the relationship will be built on misleading false presentations," she said.
But you don't want to share too much right away. "Share just a little bit. Then the person will share a bit of themselves, too." It's a back and forth that needs to be balanced as you begin to build that trust.
Be reciprocal: Don't ask something of your friend that you would not do for them. "If you're not going to answer their call at 2 a.m., don't expect them to," Degges-White said.
Be consoling, but also celebrate wins: Being a good friend means being willing to celebrate when your friend wins the lottery. Some friends just love hearing when you're miserable, she says. Part of that is jealousy, of course. You want to be a friend people call when they're excited and things are going right.
Don't hoard your friends: Don't be afraid to introduce your friends to each other. It's a common problem. "They're scared other friends might become better friends with them." Many of us bring insecurity to relationships, which is tied up in feeling that we're not enough. We need to learn to love ourselves and get over it. Life is meant to be a party, Degges-White said.
Be OK with disagreement: Our friends don't have to think exactly like we think. It's how you deal with the disagreement that really matters. Be willing to talk about it when something is bothering you. "Don't let things go on too long." Degges-White suggests that we shouldn't be too hard on the people who are there for us and have proved that they are, time and again.

Twitter Users Are Now Escaping Online Hate By Switching Account Locations To Germany

In an attempt to escape and avoid online hate from pro-Nazis, some Twitter users are changing their account locations to Germany - where local laws prevent pro-Nazi content. This hack is good to filter much of the unwanted hate speech - but doesn’t reassure internet utopia, CNBC reports:

But local residents and researchers say German Twitter is not exactly the internet utopia some imagine.
“We are not the paradise of social media without any hate speech whatsoever,” said Stephan Dreyer, a senior media law and governance researcher at the Hans-Bredow-Institut in Germany.
While the most obvious expressions of Nazism and racism may be harder to find on Twitter accounts with their locations set to Germany, there is still plenty of coded content that slips through the cracks, Dreyer said.

Even with the difference in enforcement in Germany (and its tighter policies on content moderation), Twitter still relies heavily on its users to report and moderate inappropriate content on their platform.

It isn’t an internet utopia afterall.

This Is What Happens In A Pet Influencers Convention

Believe it or not, conventions for pet influencers do happen! These famous Internet pets get together, in their designer clothes and accessories for a convention for them and their fans. From photo opps, sponsored and charity booths, to fan meets - Style Caster’s Becca Evans relay her experience from the Los Angeles PetCon

A spread of complimentary Spindrift seltzer and Ellenos Greek yogurt—both event sponsors—was set up next to the Get Caked booth, where flapjack portraits of the furry guests were being served. I saw an absolute plethora of dogs chowing down on ice cream for dogs, courtesy of a booth from The Bear And The Rat, a specialty dog creamery. (Yes, that is a real thing that exists.)
The biggest photo opp of all (quite literally) was a Ferrari set up in front of a green screen, which promoted the upcoming release of Fox’s The Art of Racing in the Rain. The venerable golden retriever from the movie—a good boy in real life who plays an equally good boy on screen—was on deck as the event’s resident movie star.

As luxurious and extravagant some of the things in this PetCon sound, at the end of the day, nothing beats the exhilaration from meeting a bunch of cute pets in shirts and glasses. And if you agree with that sentiment, then a PetCon might be the next event you would want to go to!

Snapchat Takes Over Rival Instagram With a Hashtag Takeover

Snapchat has taken a subtle step against rival social media platform Instagram - with a hashtag takeover. The hashtag takeover is part of their recently-launched campaign, called Real Friends. Aimed to highlight how users can connect with their friends on Snapchat, a hashtag takeover was staged on Instagram with #realfriends and #friendshipquotes. The hashtags were filled with quotes and posts about friendship, along with footage from Snapchat.

We're looking forward to a response from Instagram - maybe a takeover on Snapchat?
