Weird Dating Mail.

Anytime you sign up with a dating service, you get tons of useless inquiries for every possible match. At least that’s what I’ve heard. The Google Book.

FAR! FAR away, the Google lives, in a land which only children can go to. It is a wonderful land of funny flowers, and birds, and hills of pure white heather.

The Google has a beautiful garden which is guarded night and day. All through the day he sleeps in a pool of water in the center of the garden; but when the night comes, he slowly crawls out of the pool and silently prowls around for food.

Soap Opera Fantasy Leagues.

Pick your favorite soap opera characters, and predict what they will do in upcoming episodes. From Reuters:
The Walt Disney Co.'s SoapNet announced the Web-based fantasy site on Friday at its annual Super Soap Weekend in Florida in a bid to attract women aged 18 to 34, and add a social dimension to the six-year-old soap TV channel.

The game works along the same lines as fantasy football, in which real-life players are chosen for virtual teams and results are based on statistics from actual games.

Can this possibly work as randomly as baseball or football games, which are unscripted and broadcast live? And can’t everyone who watches soap operas see what’s coming a mile away? Soapnet is now taking signup and points begin to accrue tomorrow. It costs $9.99 to play for 10 weeks. Link -via Simply Left Behind

Cognitive Neuroscientist vs. Game Show

Who Wants to Be a Cognitive Neuroscientist Millionaire? is a fascinating account of an academic (Ogi Ogas) who had a system for winning on a game show. Who could resist such prose as:
My neurohormones whipped from black misery to shining ebullience, saturating my brain in a boiling cauldron of epinephrine and endorphins. I gaped at the azure screen in front of me as the ultimate question coalesced in hot white font.

Did he win a million? I’m not giving away the end of the story! Link
