Twins Deliver Babies on the Same Day

Jessica and Jennifer Patterson are used to doing everything together. The identical 21-year-old twin sisters are alike in every way, except a few ways in which they are mirror images. They even share an apartment. And now, they are both mothers, after giving birth on the same day in the same hospital.
Jessica went to Bloomington [Indiana] Hospital Tuesday night to be induced.

"I was with her in the hospital room," said Jennifer.

But instead of Jessica going into labor, Jennifer did

"I was just contracting every two to three minutes," said Jennifer.

Twelve hours later, little Adeline was born.

"It was after Adeline was born I started having really bad contractions," said Jessica.

And soon Mason joined his cousin.

"I hope they grow up really close," said Jessica.

Is My Child Ready for a Haunted House?

When kids talk to their schoolmates about Halloween, they might come to you wanting a trip through the local haunted house attraction. But can they handle it? Chris Handa of Castle Blood has a guide for making that decision. Ask yourself some questions, like:
1. Can your family member differentiate between fantasy and reality?

2. If they get scared and cannot go on, how do you plan on dealing with it?

3. Can your group go through without disrupting another tour, even if a party member has a meltdown?

Chris goes into detail for each point, and encourages parents to investigate the specific attraction. Personally, I decided my kids could go to a haunted house when they were able to pay their own admission, and so far that's worked well. Link -via Metafilter

Crappy Pictures and Great Stories

I just found a wonderful blog called Parenting, illustrated with crappy pictures™. Amber Dusick tells stories about her children and draws pictures that are not crappy, just simple. This illustration is from the post art with kids, the two scenarios.
Their attention is held because of the amount of mess they are making.

Scenario Two officially starts the moment they invent a new technique, like splattering paint across the paper or pouring it directly onto the paper. I always applaud these techniques. They are having fun! Creativity is messy!

I applaud them because there is a stifled artist inside of me living vicariously through their freedom. Plus, I am an idiot.

The other posts are just as funny. My particular favorite is what fortunate means. But you'll want to read more of Dusick's stories. Link -via Metafilter
