Six-year-old James Scowcroft came up with the idea of a talking schoolbag, which can remind students of the things they need to pack.

James devised his Robo Rucksack, with flashing antenna and five buttons to allow the owner to pre-record messages, as part of a museum competition.

James's bag was judged the best and turned into reality by design firm Innovate.

James said he is keen to keep on inventing in the future, with a rucksack that helps with the cleaning next on his list, along with a time machine to allow him to see the way his mum looked "in the old days".

The Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester, England sponsored the competition. I want two, as I repeat myself too many times about packing a schoolbag every morning! Link ~via Arbroath

The new ad for Guiness stout will debut on TV tonight, but is available on the net already. It shows the biggest domino fall you can imagine.

Shot in an Argentinian mountainside village, it features a game of dominoes which escalates to include suitcases, tyres, oil drums, fridges, wardrobes and cars.

Proving that "Good Things Come to Those Who Wait", it culminates with the pages of 10,000 books flipping open to create a giant pint of Guinness.

The advert, part of a £10 million campaign, was directed by Nicolai Fuglsig, who was behind the Sony Bravia "balls" commercial.

Update: I did a little digging, and this has been identified as the Perito Moreno Glacier {wiki} in Los Glaciares National Park. The breakup is a natural phenomena that can be forecasted, but it’s not regular, happening every one to ten years. It's a big tourist attraction.

wedged between the walls of a mountain crevice in norway is a rock called kjeragbolten. the rock is often stood on by tourists for a crafty photograph whilst attempting not to look down at the 3000ft+ drop. i’m assuming the sheep/goat in the picture below was a local.

Caught in a Pick at the Light - when a person is waiting in their car at a traffic light and decides to scratch the outside of their nose, where it appears (to their date, who just happens to be in the car or cab next to them) that they are actually picking their nose

Head-First Parker - 1) a person who tries to pull into a parking space head first as opposed to backing into the space 2) a person who pulls into a parking space head first with the intention of screwing someone else out of the space

Level Jumping (on a friendship) - when casual acquaintances attempt to become better friends with certain acquaintances (ex. asking an acquaintance to be a godparent to one's child/children)

A barstool powered by a V8 engine? Sounds dangerous, but the top speed is 25 miles per hour. Manufactured by California Boss Hoss, these were seen at the SEMA car show in Las Vegas last week. To followup the story from Monday, The Hindustan Times reports that surgeons have completed the surgery to remove two-year-old Lakshmi Tatma’s parasitic twin, and she is in stable condition.

"Lakshmi is doing fine and her condition is stable," Chief Coordinator of Sparsh Hospital, Dr Mamata Patil told PTI.

The next 48 to 72 hours are critical and a team of doctors will monitor Lakshmi, who is put on ventilators in the Intensive Care Unit, she said.

What’s cuter than a red panda? Two red pandas... kissing! Although these two have lived together at the Kawasaki Yumemigasaki Zoo in Japan for eight years, they recently began spending up to an hour a day kissing. In the few days since this video appeared, many versions have been edited, remixed, and set to soundtracks. Love songs, of course.

A British Lottery scratch-off game sold by Camelot stores had to be pulled from circulation after the math involved confused too many players. The Cool Cash Lotto ticket dealt with temperatures, often below zero. To win a prize, the temperature number under the scratch off had to be lower than the one displayed on the card.

Tina Farrell, from Levenshulme, called Camelot after failing to win with several cards.

The 23-year-old, who said she had left school without a maths GCSE, said: "On one of my cards it said I had to find temperatures lower than -8. The numbers I uncovered were -6 and -7 so I thought I had won, and so did the woman in the shop. But when she scanned the card the machine said I hadn't.

"I phoned Camelot and they fobbed me off with some story that -6 is higher - not lower - than -8 but I'm not having it."

This may be the definitive proof of the old saying: the lottery is a tax on people who aren’t good at math. Link -via reddit

You may remember the singing Tesla coil previously on Neatorama; now here are two Tesla coils doing The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy in harmony!

The Tesla coils stand 7 feet tall and are each capable of putting out over 12 foot of spark. They are spaced about 18 feet apart. The coils are controlled over a fiber optic link by a single laptop computer. Each coil is assigned to a midi channel which it responds to by playing notes that are programed into the computer software. These coils were constructed by Steve Ward and Jeff Larson. Video was captured by Terry Blake. What is not obvious is how loud the coils are. They are well over 110dB...
