He was 96, so he had Medicare at least. But he also had dementia. For long-term care, such as a nursing home or round-the-clock assistance, Medicare requires that you spent all your personal assets down before the insurance takes over. The medal would have been considered a personal asset.
At one place I lived, I removed a couple feet of pine needles from the forest floor, and orchids began blooming! A few years later, with more forest "improvements," they died out.
I would venture to guess that Tennessee Hater users are trying to distance themselves from their poverty-stricken ancestors. My mother collected dandelion greens, blackberries, sassafras, and black walnuts as a kid (and so did I, but I wasn't in Tennessee).
It will have to be a redesign of the phone itself, if it ever happens. People are used to holding a phone upright, because that's the way we talk on phone calls. The fact that actual phone calls are a small part of their use today is irrelevant. The upright mode makes putting a viewing screen and a keyboard together simpler... so that's what they are used to now. My kids act like turning a phone from upright (texting orientation) to horizontal (TV mode) is a hassle.
