When your pooch starts acting weird and not eating or drinking, you know you need to take him to the vet. What you might not know is that he ate something weird when you weren't home.
In Petey's case, that something weird was seriously weird. In fact, it's hard to believe it fit in the five month old dog's body at all. That's because Petey ate a toilet bowl scrubber -a whole 15" toilet bowl scrubber.
After a quick surgery, vets were able to remove the brush and Petey is now recovering just fine. “It was the one of the most remarkable things I have ever seen in veterinary medicine and the strangest surgery I have ever performed,” said veterinarian Dr. Yvonne Kline.
This table will grow on you -literally. And you don't need to limit the plant life to grass, you can grow all kinds of things in that trough, including a floral centerpiece for your table. And this is only one of the many great nature-inspired home designs we featured over at Homes and Hues today.
If you ever wished you could live in your favorite park or dreamed of residing in a distant forest cabin, but hate the commute you'd face, you'll love these wonderful ways to bring a touch of nature into your home.
No, I don't mean that the Urban Green House is colored green, it's green in the eco-sense of the word. In fact, it's pretty much wood, concrete and black siding on the outside. So how is it green? Well, it is designed to be narrow, letting air flow through naturally during the summer while the wide roof and porch prevents excess sun from entering your home.
We love sweets, bacon and Sriracha soooo much here at Neatorama and these amazing pineapple pieces wrapped in candied bacon and served with a Sriracha-honey sauce are pretty much everything we look for in a snack. Best of all, they only take a few minutes to make, so if you're one of those people that has a hard time not eating their bacon before they actually use it in a recipe, you might actually still have some left by the time you finish these -but be sure to cook extra anyway.
We've already seen what happens when Harry defeats Voldemort, but what happens in the parallel universe where that's not the case? Thanks to Imgur user deathbystapler, now we know a little more of the tale...at least, what crimes the resistance is guilty of and the bounties on them and which positions some of Voldemort's loyal Death Eaters are awarded when they win the war.
If you like Harry Potter, you definitely won't want to miss the entire series, even if only to celebrate that Harry and the others won.
Hip replacements: they aren't just for old people any more. In fact, they're not even limited to humans as adorable Wanda the Wombat just proved. The cutie pie had severe arthritis that resulted in her no longer using her leg at all, so the veterinarians opted to fix her up with an artificial hip.
Ordinarily wombats only live for five years in the wild, so at 22, it's no wonder little Wanda needed a little help from her doctor. And we're glad she got the surgery she needed -we want to keep looking at this precious face for years to come.
If you're a geek, you probably want your little babe to end up a geek as well, or at least to be well versed in geek culture so the two of you can relate with one another later on. Thanks to Jonathan M. Guberman, you can start them before they can even talk with these delightful laser engraved baby blocks each featuring four geek icons that start with the letter on the block. You can find a close up of all the block designs here and a full list of all of the characters and icons on the blocks on Guberman's website, Up, not North.
Anyone who has to use a cane knows how useful they are, but Lanzavecchia + Wai (the same team that brought us the delightfully fun Rocking Bench) discovered a way to make using a cane around the house even more useful. There are three models of the Together Cane -the I-cane, which features a laptop or iPad desk, the T-cane, that can be used as a tea tray, and the U-cane, can be used to carry and store magazines and/or crafting supplies.
And so the elderly don't have to lift up the loaded up canes, they come with wheels, which are presumably tight enough to prevent the wheels from slipping out from under the user.
A lot of you seemed to enjoy the Striped Standing Lamp we featured on Homes and Hues a few weeks ago, and here's another wonderful creation by the same designers, Studio Floris Wubben, we're sure you'll enjoy. The Living Light is a simple-looking vase with a simple light in the bottom. Just put any hollow-stemed flower into the base and the light will result in a glowing blossom that won't soon be forgotten.
