Ten Cool Facts That Might Make You Want to Visit Antarctica

No, this isn't a picture of some kind of horrible environmental disaster, nor is it Photoshop. In fact, this photo of a "bloodfall" portrays Antarctica in its pristine, natural state. It's a result of a water source low in oxygen and high in iron that has a whole colony of microbes that survive on the iron and sulfur in the water.

Antarctica is also a great place to look for meteorites as they don't get covered with dirt or mixed in with other rocks -and, best of all, they contrast with the ice cover on the world's coldest continent.

Are your interests in Antarctica peaked? If so, you won't want to miss this cool article on TopTenz featuring 10 cool bits of trivia about Antarctica

Finally Salad Looks Fun to Eat

Salads are good for you, but they are rarely fun and exciting. But thanks to the modern miracle of 3D printers, that may very well change soon. That's Nerdalicious reports that Food Designer Chloé Rutzerveld created these clever 3D printed crackers that have living organisms inside the pod, such as seeds, spores and yeast on the inside. These organisms sprout and grow a living, miniature salad within three to four days of the printing.

It could still be a decade before these make their way to your dinner plates, but we're loving the idea of a salad hidden within the walls of a fresh cracker.

7 Cool Pieces of Tech You Can Use to Make Your Home More Green

The patern in the water pouring from the faucet pictured above looks too beautiful to be real, but it is all too real thanks to the use of two turbines in the spout. They not only make the water leaving the faucet look incredible, but they also reduce water usage by up to 15%.

Meanwhile, this programable thermostat doesn't just learn your patterns to minimize unneccessary energy usage, it also automatically shuts off when no one's home. You can even control it away from home with your smartphone.

These cool technologies are only two of the many items we rounded up for our newest Homes and Hues article: 7 Great Green Home Technologies

That's My Kind of Princess!

Now isn't she a pretty, pretty princess? I've seen tons of Barbie cakes, but never a kaiju princess like this one. And who wouldn't prefer a Japanese superbabe like this one? We'd better hope she gets a nice present or else this princess might just take down the city.

This image was uploaded by Imgur user CaptainShadow. No word on who made it though.

9 Cool Pieces of Multi-Purpose Furniture

Why settle for a piece of furniture that only serves one purpose when you can have a piece that does more functions? That's why over at Homes and Hues, we rounded up nine handy pieces of furniture that can each be used for more than their obvious intended purpose.

There's a bed that can become a desk, a table that's also a wine rack, or a crib that can grow along with the child and eventually turn into a full-sized bed. There's even a table with removable glass panels that can be switched out and used as dishes, vases or other useful options.

That's One Adorably Scary Cake

Freddy Cuteger is equal parts scary and adorable in this amazing cake by the Black Cherry Cake Company. This creepy cutie was created as the company's submission in a movie-themed cake competition. I don't know if he won or not, but he certainly should have and if he didn't, those judges better drink a little coffee because I hear Freddy has been known to visit people in their dreams and mark his territory all over their dream destination.

The Worst Real Estate Photos of All Time

We've all heard the term "fixer upper," but this Oddee article with 13 horrible real estate photos really tests the limits of the phrase. I mean, it's one thing to have to remove popcorn ceilings and do a little roof work, but when you're actually growing a garden in your living room...you might be better off condeming the whole house.

Of course, sometimes you might be better off stripping down the house before selling it if the previous owners rennovated it to look absolutely horrible -say, by installing a swastica in the shower, for example.

It takes a special kind of lady to want a Stargate, Star Wars, World of Warcraft or Doctor Who engagement or wedding ring, but when you find that girl, you'd better hurry up and put a ring on it. We've featured plenty of Paul's designs before, but with so many great designs available from the artist, I thought it might just be time to revisit some of his work.

Pecan Pie Egg Rolls Sound Like Heaven

Pecan pie is always a great treat, but those who truly adore the treat know that the best filling in the world still needs a light, flaky filling to really make the most of the dessert. If you've been having issues nailing the right crust, then maybe you should start thinking outside the pie -that is, consider trying an egg roll wrapper instead. It might sound crazy if you're used to traditional egg rolls that are filled with soy sauce, meat and cabbage, but if you've ever had sweet cream cheese won tons then you know the light dough can be a perfect balance of flaky and crunchy.

Want to try it yourself? Then head over to Capturing Joy for the recipe.

This Mother Let Her Toddler Dress Her For A Week

Summer Bellessa is the mother of a three year-old boy. After picking out his outfits for three years, she thought it might be interesting to let him pick out her clothes for a week. The results are surprisingly fabulous -particularly the polka dot Minnie ensemble above.

Her discoveries from the experiment are interesting not just because her son has pretty great fashion sense, but also because she realized that most people really don't care what you wear -even if you're wearing two shoes that don't even match. And while she doesn't say it, the results also prove that hipsters dress like children.

10 Animals With the Most Bizarre Sex Organs Around

Last weekend was Valentine's Day and while plenty of you got a little freaky with your special someone (or watched someone else get freaky by checking out 50 Shades of Grey), I'm doubting many of you got anywhere near as freaky as the animals in this Toptenz list do when they get down.

From the fruit fly with sperm 20 times longer than their bodies to the water baotman with a penis that can make sounds as loud as 100 decibels, the animals in this article are a great reminder of how strange and amazing nature can be.

Frozen Paid Tribute to Awkward Family Photos

If you didn't know already, it's safe to say that everyone here at Neatorama loves Awkward Family Photos -and apparently we aren't the only ones. The creators of Frozen also love the site and the proof can be seen in the new Frozen short, called Frozen Fever, which happens to include the above picture that creators outrightly stated was inspired by AwkwardFamilyPhotos.com.

If you love easter eggs in movies, you'll want to keep an eye on this short, which will be released before Disney's new live-action Cinderella movie in March.

The 10 Most Extreme Substances On Earth

Remember in Aliens how the xenomorph's blood was acidic enough to burn through the ship? Yeah, well that's not even as bad as fluoroantimonic acid. If the aliens had fluoroantimonic acid in their blood -well, it would dissolve their whole bodies, but if it managed to stay in their bodies until they were shot, it would not only eat a whole through the thickest panels in the ship, but the potent vapors would also kill pretty much everyone on the ship.

While fluorantimonic acid is the most acidic substance on earth, it's only one of the ten crazy substances included in this TopTenz list of over-the-top insane substances. What's the most deadly poison? How about the most flammable substance? Or the most radioactive material? You'll have to find out at the link.
