What's the Weirdest Thing Your Pet Has Ever Done

(Care For Your Pets by Legendary Phoenix)

Pets are magnificent and part of the thing that makes them so great is that no two pets are exactly alike. And in fact, some animals are just plain weird. Over on our Facebook, we recently asked our readers what the weirdest thing their pet ever did was and the answers were as delightfully fun as you might expect. A few examples:

My cat got in the bathroom and took a dump on the toilet like those trained cats we see on YouTube. In the end he sit at the door and looked at me like saying "no one will believe in you"

Or:

My cat opens the freezer and sits in it. When we aren't home, stuff thaws because he doesn't close it when he leaves! He will also sit on the bottom shelf of the fridge and we've accidentally locked him in...

Or:

Tried to use all the remotes in the house to hide his poop. I mean all of them bedroom remote, tv, Dvd, and the Xbox remotes were pushed on top of the pile.

You can read all the great comments here, or add your own weird pet story in the comments on this post.

Quirky Stories About David Lynch

I'm literally watching Twin Peaks as I write this and that's the great thing about David Lynch movies and shows is that you can watch them over and over again and catch new things every time. As it turns out, the man behind these classics is just as fascinating and the strange trivia bits featured in this Vulture article prove it. For example, did you know that he loves quinoa so much he made a surreal video about it? Or that Cameron Crow originally wanted Lynch to be the director of Fast Times at Ridgemont High, but Lynch quite politely turned him down?

You can read all kinds of weird facts about Lynch here (and watch his quinoa video for yourself)

This Dog Constantly Stalks His Owner Wherever She Goes

Do you ever feel like someone's watching you? For most people, that's just a pointless paranoia but in the case of Lauren Birney, she's pretty much always right. Lauren's two-year old bull mastiff, Cyprus, suffers from separation anxiety and never lets her leave his line of sight.

Wherever Lauren goes, Cyprus is sure to follow, whether that means going to the bathroom with her, peering at her from behind the couch or poking his head under the blinds.

Cyprus has earned himself the nickname of "convicted creeper" in his household. "Sometimes I have no idea that he is creeping on me until I get up off a seat or look around the room and find he will be standing behind an object with his head sticking out staring at me," she said.

Fascinating But Totally Pointless Studies

Did you know that North Korea is the second happiest country in the world -according to North Korea? Or that monkeys who scream the loudest tend to have the smallest testicles? There are some studies that reveal nothing more than you would expect, but they're still surprisingly interesting.

Over on TopTenz, you can have more unsurprising truths that are endlessly entertaining.

The Food Each State Hates the Most

We've written a lot about the differing tastes people from each state tend to have (including each state's most talked about food, what food each state looks for on Pinterest, every state's most important food innovation and the fastest growning food chain in each state). One thing we haven't talked about much is what food each individual state dislikes the most, but thanks to Hater, now we know.

While some of the results are to be expected -of course Texas is particular about its steaks and Washington hates K-Cups, some of the answers are a bit surprising if not weird. Personally, I didn't know gas station wine was popular enough to warrant hating but it must be in at least New Jersey and what's the deal with the last bite of a hot dog, huh Missouri? And on a more personal note I just don't see how anyone could hate tapas North Dakota -maybe they're just particularly bad in that state.

The Most Important Chain Restaurants In American History

You probably already know that McDonald's changed the fast food landscape for good and you could probably guess that Starbucks did a similar thing for coffee shops, but did you know how important White Castle or Dominos are American culinary history? Over on Thrillist, you can learn a lot about the history of American restaurants and the chains that formed our modern dining options in this great article. It's a long read, but if you like food and history, you'll probably find it fascinating -even if you're not a fan of some of the places listed.

So see the whole article here.

Bring Pickle Rick to Your Family Therapy Sessions With This Awesome Plush

Pickle Rick is a pretty intense and very scary guy once he gets his rat suit legs, but before that, he's pretty darn helpless -which means he's in the perfect condition to force him to go to family therapy. Just pop him in your purse and you can have a perfectly complacent Rick who requires nothing more than the syringe that will eventually help him no longer become a pickle. You can get your hands on this great Pickle Rick plush through romARToy's Etsy page, where you can also get your hands on a plush Mr. Poopy Butthole, Cromulon head, and more.

Every Marilyn Monroe Movie Ranked From Best to Worst

Marilyn Monroe is a legend and while she is best known for being a blonde bombshell, she was actually quite a talented actress and singer with a hefty film resume. Vulture took the time to rank all of her almost 30 movies from worst to best along with their reasons for their rankings. Keep in mind that the rankings are based mostly on Marilyn's performance, which is why Gentlemen Prefer Blondes is ranked higher than Some Like It Hot. Whether you're a dedicated Marilyn fan or are just interested in seeing more of her work, the list is certainly worth checking out.

So see the full list here.

Prince's Favorite Color Wasn't What You'd Expect

(Image via Erik [Flickr])

Everyone associates Prince with purple, which only makes sense given how often he wore the color and how one of his most famous songs is Purple Rain, but while he might be associated with purple, it wasn't actually his favorite color. So what was? According to his sister, he actually prefered orange. Granted, he may have worn orange on multiple occassions, but he will always be the Purple One to his fans.

Read more about his purple vs. orange color associations over on Vulture.

People Share Stories of What Made Them Walk Out on Job Interviews

(Job Hunt tee available in the NeatoShop)

We've all had bad job interviews before, but most people have to be put through a lot of BS before they walk out on the interviewer. Over on Reddit, people shared the stories of times they were pushed too far during interviews. One thing that continually gets people to leave is when employers lie about job positions in the listing -usually because they want to lure people into a shady sales job.

There are also quite a few interviews where the laws were actually broken. One particularly bad story:

"Are you deciding to have any kids soon? We'd rather not hire you then have to fire you when you're knocked up." I was 15 at the time.

Another thing that seems to drive a lot of people to leave is when interviewers don't bother to show up on time:

I showed up about ten minutes early, signed in, all that jazz... and waited. and waited. and waited. 45 minutes later I got up, asked the receptionist (who looked seriously embarrassed) to let my interviewer know I was no longer interested, and left. Two hours later I got a rude call asking if I had forgotten the appointment. I laughed and hung up.

Things You Probably Don't Know About Sloths

Everyone knows that sloths are adorable, but there's a lot more to any creature than its relative level of cuteness and sloths are particularly fascinating critters. For example, did you know that even experts experienced with sloths aren't always able to tell the difference between males and females of the species? Or that they even move faster in water than they do on land/trees? Or that they don't drink water?

Gender-Swapped Versions of Famous Cartoon Characters

One thing makes a good cartoon character is creating a design that is instantly recognizable even when it's drawn in a completely different manner. Artist Alicia Herber took some truly fantastic characters and then changed their genders -and the results are delightful.

Her choices range from classics like Looney Toons to modern favorites like Rick and Morty, and include everything in between like Captain Planet. You can see her full collection over on Buzzfeed.

Still Have Those Eclipse Glasses? Consider Putting Them to Good Use

I know a lot of people have probably already tossed their eclipse glasses and many people who haven't already decided to keep theirs as a lifelong souvenir, but if you're still deciding what to do with yours, now there's another great option available. Astronomers Without Borders will be collecting donated glasses to donate to kids in Asia and South America so they can use them to view upcoming eclipses in 2019.

While mailing instructions haven't been released yet, you can keep an eye on the group's Facebook page where they will be announced soon and in the meanwhile, keep those glasses safe.

Got a Cold? Break Off a Piece of This Kit Kat Bar

Cough drops sometimes try to taste like candy, but have you ever heard of a candy trying to taste like a cough drop? Well, Kit Kat apparently thought it was a great idea because that's the newest flavor they're releasing to Japan. The good news is that because it has 2.1% throat lozenge powder mixed in with the white chocolate, it could hopefully actually help if you have a sore throat -and that powder is just enough to make the treat "fresh and invigorating."
