I'll Buy All The Games You Have, Thanks

Remember when you were a youngster and you told yourself that it was ok that just just spent all of your savings on a video game because it was an "investment?" Well, for most of us, that was just a lie, but for one collector, that ended up being the truth -he just made $1.2 million for his gaming collection.

Of course, this was no ordinary collection. In fact, it actually contained every game ever made for every Sega, Nintendo and NEC system -a total of around 7,000 games, all of which came in the box complete with their instruction manual. Some of the games haven't even been opened.

It puts your childhood collection to shame, doesn't it?

The Best Spy Shoes Since Get Smart

I could never walk in these darn things but heck, I'd be a terrible spy too. For those that do walk just fine in heels and are sick of carrying purses or hiding cyanide capsules in their bras, these Double Agent Shoes are just the ticket for hiding all your secret cargo.

What Your Favorite Literary Characters Were Almost Named

Did you know Sherlock Holmes was almost named “Sherringford” Holmes? Or that Gandalf was almost "Bladorthin?"
Bladorthin the Grey? Yeah, not so much. But that seems to have been J.R.R. Tolkien’s original thinking. In pencilled notes on early drafts of The Hobbit, Tolkien noted that “Gandalf” was the name of the chief dwarf and “Bladorthin” was, of course, the great wizard. After the author decided to switch the names around, Bladorthin became the name of a dead king who is mentioned just once in all of Tolkien’s prolific writings.

There's just something wrong about Bladorthin the Grey.

Watch A Clam Use His Foot to Get Back in the Water

(Video Link)

Earlier, Alex posted a video of a clam "licking" up salt off of a table. As it turns out, the poor clam was actually trying to use its foot (they don't have tongues) to climb back to safety. Here's what it looks like when the creature isn't just seasoning himself for someone's dinner.

A Browser Extension That Translates YouTube Comments

Let's face it, YouTube commenter are some of the worst on the net (unlike most of you great Neatorama commenters), that's why Tanner Stokes created Herp Derp YouTube Comments to hide all those idiotic comments by translating them into herp derp speak. If, for some odd reason, you want to read the actual comment, you can click on a comment to see what the person actually wrote.

20 Weird and Fantastic Fungi

Fungi are simply amazing in general, but these 10 species are so uniquely fascinating, they're certainly worth reading about. For example, the false morel may look brainy like a morel and taste unbelievable when prepared correctly, but when it's cooked wrong, the results  can be deadly.

No Females in The Aliens Game? There's a Petition for That

You'd think every game made these days should offer a female character, especially if it's based on a movie where the main protagonist is a woman. For some reason though, Gear Box's Aliens: Colonial Marines decided not to offer players the chance to fight as a woman.

Does that upset you? Well, you're not the only one. In fact, there's now an online petition with over 3,000 signatures fighting to have a female character added to the game. If you're passionate about the integrity of the Aliens franchise, you'd better head over and sign it.

The Founding Avengers

Granted the 4th of July may be over, but as I mentioned in the last post, Comic Con is going strong, so it's still a good time to share this delightful artwork spotted at the Trader Joe's in San Rafael, CA.

Photo-Realistic Paintings of Hero Toys

Zeon and I are at Comic Con this weekend and while we won't have anything to show you until later in the week, I thought you might all appreciate these fantastic hyper-realist paintings by Simon Monk for the time being. There is a whole set featuring all sorts of costumed crusaders locked inside tiny plastic bags. It kind of reminds me of that Simpsons episode featuring "The Collector."

Why Do People Say Geronimo When Jumping?

Even kids jumping off of playground equipment scream Geronimo before they let loose, but have you ever stopped and wondered why people do this? Well, Mental Floss has the story:
In the early 1940s, the United States Army was testing the idea of parachuting from planes as a way of deploying troops. The first group to really experiment with it and begin developing paratrooper techniques was a unit of 50 men known the Parachute Test Platoon.

...When training was done for the day, the troops liked to loosen up and cool down a little. Usually, most of the guys went to the air-conditioned Main Post Theatre in the evenings to see whatever movie was playing. One night in August 1940, that movie happened to be the Paramount western, Geronimo, about the Apache chief.
