One onion *always* make too many onion rings.
BTW, "panko" style bread crumbs used to be made by crushing very dry bread slices with a rolling pin. Therefore might be authentic. These days, I make mine with a few cycles in a food processor.

Ant advice for your daughter: Kill a colony and a new queen will find the structure and reoccupy it. Pouring a 5% solution of salt in water directly onto the colony exits will poison the structure so it cannot be reoccupied. Find the location the ants are entering your house and leave Terro bait stations right there. If you can find the mound outside, leave Terro outdoor stations pegged next to it. I do not like using broadcast poisons where animals are around.

You have completely missed the point of the post. It is here because the instructionsi are ridiculously horrid and inappropriate. Without journalists shedding light on such things, they continue in the darkness.

Mom used to make tutti-frutti. That recipe is ridiculous. Skip the sterilization. What do you think the brandy is for? Warm the brandy and sugar in a microwave. Do not boil. Wait for the sugar to dissolve. As fruits ripen, wash, cut and add. Do keep sealed. Do not bother stirring. Real tutti-frutti is layered as different fruits ripen.

With no leavening, and the excessive beating, these are more like a crepe than our modern pancakes. Not quite, given the cream.
Note: the trick with crepes and unleavened carbs is to combine very well and let the mixture ait for at least a quarter of an hower.
