Crayon Dress

Alex

Dress by Nanette Lepore. Crayola crayon color: Unmellow Yellow (Image: Matthew Carasella)

When my kids were small, my wife and I often find their clothes festooned with crayon drawings. Little did we know that our kids are such trendsetters: for its Spring 2015 campaign, Bloomingdale recruited seven designers to create fashion inspired by the bright colors of, as well as incorporating actual pieces of Crayola crayons.

Designer Nanette Lepore said this about her dress, inspired by Crayola's "Unmellow Yellow" color, as pictured above: "It's an optimistic and fearless color. It demands attention because it deserves attention."

Great Ball of Pebbles

The great ball of pebbles above is an aptly titled sculptural garden sphere called "Dark Planet" by UK artist David Harber. The gorgeous structure, a perfect sphere made from thousands of black puddle stones, look downright magical.

And if you think that's gorgeous, just wait till you see it illuminated from within at night! View more of Harber's Dark Planet spheres over at Homes and Hues.

Tyrolean Night is the Ultimate Mountain Top Selfie

Alex

Photo: Torsten Muehlbacher/National Geographic Your Shot

Austrian photographer Torsten Muehlbacher took this selfie to end all selfies.

The photo above, submitted to National Geographic Your Shot, depicts the photographer marveling at the night's sky in the Tyrolean Alps. Moonlight illuminates the snow-capped peaks of the Alpine mountain range. Muehlbacher wrote, "The guy on the pic is me ... I put my camera on a 25-second exposure and myself on a 25-second 'do not move.'"

This "No Soliciting" Sign is No Match for Girl Scout Cookies

Alex

According to this "No Soliciting" sign posted on Imgur, the homeowners already know who they're voting for, have already found Jesus, and are too broke to buy anything, except Thin Mints.

No one is ever too broke to buy Thin Mints (or other Girl Scout Cookies IMHO). That crack cookie is seriously delicious.

Toxic Poopsicle: This is What Two Tons of Poop Dumped on the Highway Looks Like

Alex

You know what's worse than snow on the road? Poop on the road. Lots and lots of poop. Two tons of poop to be exact.

Last week, a highway exit ramp along the I-65 in Indiana's White County had to be closed because of an unusual spill. Raw sewage, thought to be 300 to 400 gallons of hog waste, was 6 to 8 inches deep in some places.

And if you think scooping up poop is a crappy job, the matter got a bit worse for the cleanup crew because it froze into toxic poopsicles.

I'm sure you want to see what that looks like (warning: it is as gross as it sounds), so here it is after the jump:

Chores are Scarier than Jaws

Alex

Da dum. Da dum. We're going to need bigger washer and dryer!

UK Art Director and artist Sam Gilbey was inspired by the iconic Jaws poster and decided to put together something far, far more terrifying: Chores, a poster about doing the laundry.

Police Issued Arrest Warrant for Elsa from Frozen for the Crime of Wicked Cold Winter

Alex

Image: benchart/Shutterstock, Disney and Harlan City Police Department

A winter this wicked can only mean one thing: someone with magical power of manipulating ice and snow is messing around with the weather.

So the Harlan City Police Department of Kentucky (where the temperature was in the single digits) did what any responsible law enforcement would do: they issued an all points bulletin for the arrest of Queen Elsa from Frozen.

"Suspect is a blonde female last seen wearing a long blue dress and is known to burst into song 'Let It Go!'" states the HPD. "As you can see by the weather she is very dangerous. Do not attempt to apprehend her alone," the bulletin warns the general public.

UPS Man Sees Your Sign, Doesn't Care

John just posted about how package delivery drivers work, and we found a real life example in this photo above. Well, at least the guy didn't just toss the package over the fence.

Pizza-Inspired Nail Polish

Alex

You know what goes great with pizza? How about nail polish?

As part of its Valentine's Day promotion, Pizza Hut Australia has released a line of pizza-inspired nail polish with colors such as "Say Cheese," "Meat Me After Midnight," and "Dough You Need Me."

The nail polish will serve as prizes to a poetry contest, where people can submit pizza-themed poems as entries (the cheesier the poem, we assume, the better).

See how your pizza poem stacks up against the winners:

Forget A Husband! Woman Who Caught 46 Wedding Bouquets Wants a Guinness World Record

Alex

Photo: Jamie Jackson

Legend has it that the woman who catches the wedding bouquet thrown by the bride will be the next one to get married.

That obviously hasn't worked for Salt Lake City resident Jamie Jackson. She's caught 46 wedding bouquets since 1996 and is still single to this day. But don't worry about her - Jackson is after something a lot bigger than a man: she wants to bag a Guinness World Records.

So, how does one catch that many wedding bouquet? "It is something that you have to plan for and you have to be very strategic where you place yourself," Jackson said to KSL, "My strategy is to be right up in the front because a lot of times the brides don’t know how far they are going to throw it. A lot of times it will hit a ceiling, it’ll hit a chandelier... I’ve had many, many catches where I’ve had to jump for it. And I’ve hit little kids by accident."

Jackson has kept all of her bouquets and proudly displays her catches in a glass cabinet. All are labeled with the wedding details and year.

"I’m proud to say that out of all 46 wedding bouquets I’ve caught, there have only been two divorces out of 46," she said to KSL. "I consider myself a good luck charm."

Snarky Street Sign Warns People to First Cross the Street, Then Update Facebook

Alex

Photo: City of Hayward

A neighborhood in the city of Hayward, California, had a problem with speeding cars. But after the usual approaches - enforcement, traffic engineering fixes, and even a public outreach - failed to yield results, the city decided to try something weird: unusual street signs to catch driver's attention.

"Let's juxtapose an unconventional message with a conventional medium to catch people's attention, " said city spokesman Frank Holland to SFGate, "If it starts a conversation, maybe people will change their behavior."

One of the signs warn pedestrian to first finish crossing the street before updating Facebook. Another tells drivers that they should use eyes, brakes and brain to navigate a downhill street.

The sign below warns drivers that 35 mph is the speed limit, not a suggestion.

No words whether the signs, which were produced and installed in January to the tune of $205 each, have any effects.

Teacher with Phobia of Young Children Lost Lawsuit Against School

Alex

Kids are scary. I know. I have three of my own.

But if you have a phobia of young children, then perhaps you shouldn't be a teacher. That's what a woman named Maria Waltherr-Willard just found out as she lost her appeal in a lawsuit against her local school district.

According to SFGate, the 63-year-old high school Spanish and French language teacher was transferred to a middle school. There, the seventh- and eighth-graders triggered her phobia, causing "her blood pressure to soar" (which is probably what seventh and eight graders do even to normal adults) and forced her to retire.

Waltherr-Willard sued for breach-of-contract as she stipulated that the high school had promised not to let little kids come near her, but the court decided against her claims.

(What better thumbnail to illustrate this post than the creepy Disaster Girl?)

Back to the Future Hoverboard Stencil by JPS

Alex

Photo: JPS/Facebook

It's 2015, so if you're asking "Where's my hoverboard?" then street artist JPS (featured previously on Neatorama) has got the answer: here it is!

But before you can say "Whoa. This is Heavy," you should know that the pink Mattel hoverboard used by Marty McFly in Back to the Future series shown above is just a stencil on a pavement. Bummer!

Now who wants to see JPS make the Pit Bull series hoverboard?
