Cat Does A Cute Thing

You know what you NEVER see on the internet? Videos and pics of cats doing cute things. I wish I could have written the preceding sentences in a sarcasm font, alas, I need to invent one. In all seriousness, cat videos and cat pics are the fodder that keeps the internet afloat on an otherwise directionless current. Everywhere you turn, no matter how far down the rabbit hole of the internet you go, there is a cat pic or video nearby to pull you from that and make you smile.

(YouTube Link)

The funny part is, you know that there are people out there just sitting and waiting for their cat to do something kooky or cute so they can catch it on film. This means they are sitting there with their camera and phones on the ready at all times. "Cat Does A Cute Thing" is a hilarious animation from YouTube User RageNineteen that shows us that exact scenario, and plays with the idea that the cat may very well be privy to it. It is a stylized animatiom that will muster a laugh from even the most stoic cat lover.

I will admit, the "dubstep" moment made me laugh out loud.

Epic Exercise Ball-Fails

(YouTube Link)

Exercise balls are strange inventions. On one hand, if used correctly, they can be a great assist to those who cannot get to the gym or do not have access to the best equipment. They are affordable and versatile. The problem is, the people who get their hands on exercise balls never seem like they want to do the right thing with them (i.e. exercise).

It seems these people have not quite grasped the basic ideas of physics. In many instances, these folks got what the rest of us call a "life lesson". Do stupid things on camera for a laugh, you might get hurt. So as much as you may cringe or feel bad for them, there really is no need. If two people run at each other at full speed with a single exercise ball between them, they sorta deserve whatever happens next.

How Supernatural's Ten Seasons Represent Buddhist Stages of Reincarnation

The CW show Supernatural has filled a void left by shows like The X-Files. These shows allow us a peak into a world very different from our own. It is classic horror and fantasy escapism. When a show like Supernatural has run for 10 seasons, you get some really interesting fan theories. A perfect example is how Supernatural's Ten Seasons Represent Buddhist Stages Of Reincarnation. It is apparent some serious thought was put into this. In terms of season five of the show representing Bodhisattva:

I'd actually heard of a Bodhisattva before researching this article: a spiritual guide and enlightened being that helps others. It's also the second-to-top rung of the reincarnation ladder even though we're only halfway through the article, which might be a hint to where the show quality goes in later seasons. Season 5, which is all about trying to constrain the fallout from the apocalypse, is an appropriate one for Bodhisattva as well. The brothers have an almost completely unselfish motivation and a genuinely heroic goal.

Any fans of Supernatural should give this a read.

Can You Sneeze With Your Eyes Open?

(YouTube Link)

So can you sneeze without closing your eyes? Some people are aware, and some are blissfully unaware until the sneeze comes and the force of the sneeze causes you to shut your eyes. There's the rumor that we close our eyes when we sneeze as a reflex because the pressure can cause our eyes to shoot out of our skulls. I know, I know, it is silly, but a great many people think it. So can you sneeze with your eyes open?

D News put together this video explaining why you can, indeed, sneeze without blowing out your eyeballs. Most of us knew this anyway, but it is nice to know the science behind things sometimes. Keep in mind, if you would rather not watch it and go on believing we can shoot our eyeballs out of our skulls with a strong enough sneeze, that's fine. No respect lost here. Some just dare to dream bigger than others. We cannot fault you for that.

Robin Williams' Last Interview

When actor Robin Williams past recently, it was quite  shock to us all. A man who had spent so many years making us all laugh so consistently was in pain inside, and that can be hard to look back and reflect upon.

Though there are many who said they did not see that side of the actor and had no idea it was coming, it is clear to see during his final interview that there was a sort of emptiness to how he portrayed himself. He seemed flat and like his mind was elsewhere. As if getting each word out was a struggle. It is not the Robin Williams we were all used to, but it also shows us that maybe the signs were there, and we just didn't have the courage to see them or ask him if he needed help.

(YouTube Link)

Though this may seem morbid to post, let me reassure you, it is with the utmost respect for all of you that I do. Let Robin Williams be the trigger that leads us all to lean in to someone we care about and ask them if they are okay. Life is tough, and it beats down the best and brightest of us. Let this be the tragic precursor to change, is all I saying.

Because even with the brightest and funniest, as this video proves, sometimes the signs are there. We just choose to ignore them because it scares us.

Screaming In Movies: A Supercut

(YouTube Link)

I love the horror genre of movies, as a great many people do around this time of year. A little pre-Halloween scare can be good for the soul, and gets you ready for the rest of the season. What better way to usher in this season of screams than with a supercut compilations of screams from film?

Usually, when I watch a supercut, I try to play a little game with myself and see how many I can recognize. While there are many famous clips in here, there may be a few that catch you off-guard or surprise you. One of the cooler aspects of this supercut is seeing the screaming across the ages. You get films from the 60's all the way up the current generation of horror films and screamfests. It reminds you that there is quite a library of horror out there for people like us, no matter what time of year it is.

A Morbid Look at 25 Writers Who Killed Themselves

Though it is a morbid subject most would rather just avoid, it would be almost foolhardy to ignore the number of famous writers and authors who have taken their own lives. What is the correlatiom between suicide and writing? Though I have some theories myself, they are simply that. Theories. But to deny the impact suicide has had on literature would be to deny a huge part of its history.

Over at The L Magazine there is a list of 25 famous authors who killed themselves, and I bet there are a few entries on the list you did not know. I am not pointing out this article to be unqiely morbid or to sadden anyone. It just seems to me that once we can recognize this epidemic facing writers, maybe we can me more aware on how we can potentially change that.

Enlightenment is the first step towards change.

I am not sure if that is true, as I just made it up. Regardless, this article will make you stop and maybe rethink just how much you THINK you want to be a writer. There are, in fact, several hazards that go along with this field.

One of those being, apprently, suicide.

5 Biggest Video Game Bosses

Sometimes, one of the coolest parts of a video game is when you finally reach the boss fight. Since the earliest years in gaming, video game bosses have truly evolved. Where once they were a pixel, slightly larger than you, now bosses can sometimes be larger than the screen. Just a massive beast who wants nothing more than to crush you like a bug under its thumb.

Luckily, over the years, the good guys have gotten considerably more talented, too, and often show these lumbering creatures who the REAL boss is. YouTube User Qubimaxima assembled this very cool video list of massive end bosses from recent video games. The best part is, he feels no need to exposition much over the bosses or why they are here. He just lets their massive size speak for itself.

(YouTube Link)

I will say, there is something incredibly gratifying about taking down some massive beast who wants nothing more to destroy you. But you don't have to be a game geek like me to appreciate the design of some of these bosses, or just marvel at their size.

12 Hilarious Reactions to iPhone Bendgate

Seems a great many folks are not too impressed with the fact that you can just bend the new iPhone and it stays bent. In other words, once your new Iphone gets bent somehow in your pocket, you will then have a bent phone. Not just in theory, but in your actual pocket. Again, to reiterate. It does not bend back to the original shape.

This is a massive flaw that many internet sites and other competing companies have jumped on almost immediately, resulting in what will now be called "bendgate." The website Oddee thought it might be fun to gather some of the best iPhone 6 "bendgate" photos and assembled them all into one place for you. The abve photo Samsung quickly put out after the bend news leaked is just one of many spot on parodies of the new iPhone's unofficial bend feature.

I know those of you who rushed out and bought the phone that day must be upset. The rest of us who are still using our old phones think all this is hilarious. Sorry. Sometimes being poor pays off. The rich people run the beta tests on products for their first years, then when all the bugs are worked out, it is years later and the rest of us can finally afford it. Thanks for that!

The Meaning of Life, As Explained by Third Graders

I will start this off by saying if you are not familair with "raptivist" (that is what I like to call rappers who are also activists) Prince Ea's YouTube page, you should be. He posts some incredibly inspiring stuff that will foster small changes in how you see your day to day life. The following video perfectly sums that up.

It is perfectly named, as it is third graders talking about the menaing of life. The feeling you get as you watch it is this sort of deja vu that you once felt that exact same way. You watch, and find yourself in awe at how much you WERE these kids at one point, and how much that changed.

(YouTube Link)

The great thing is, you can walk away with that feeling back inside you and alive again. A little shred of innocence, a way to look at your daily life differently, and it can make all the difference.

Men Try Women's Makeup (and the Results Are Hilarious)

As a man, have you ever tried to put on makeup, just to understand what women have to go through every day (if they choose)? While you may think it is some easy process where you just paint your face and get on your way, that is not how putting on makeup works.

There is an art for getting the right tones with your skin, and how to apply it so you don't look like a circus clown. But most of us men will never know what that's like, so it is hard to empathize with something we do not understand.

Thankfully, Buzzfeed Yellow put together this hilarious video of men trying to put on makeup, and the end result just might help us men get a real appreciation for the artistry it takes for some women to look as angelic as they do.

(YouTube Link)

I, myself, have not tried this, but I imagine the end result would be horrifying.

"Anonymous Gods" by Artist Marion Balac

It is all well and good that Google cars automatically blur out faces when they drive through neighborhoods and take pics, so as to avoid any legeal trouble. But there is something else their camera and software does. It blurs all faces. This includes the faces they drive by of staues and monuments all across the country. Artist Marion Balac realized how funny this was, and went about collecting some of these pics with the blurred faces of the famous and infamous.

She calls the project "Anonymous Gods" and as you can see, it works on multiple levels. It is funny and thought-provoking, which the best art should always be. It also shows us the absurdity of technology and how its imperfection has taken over our lives.

Benedict Cumberbatch Can't Say "Penguins"

One would think that a man as esteemed and worldly as Benedict Cumberbatch would be a master of linguistics. The subtle differences in language that seperate regions and dialects. He also clearly has been speaking English his entire life, so one might be shocked when they hear the way Sherlock pronounces penguins.

(YouTube Link)

This is not in any way to make fun of the actor. The guy is awesome. It is just one of those things you notice and kind of go hmmmm to yourself. How can such a well-spoken man have trouble with the word penguins? Truth is, we all have our odd ways of pronouncing words. Sometimes, it is because someone who raised us may have said it that way, or in some cases, there may be no reason at all.

I just thought you might find it interesting that Benedict Cumberbatch can't say penguins. Like, really.

Okay, I won't lie. This video is kind of hilarious. I mean, really, who has ever called them penglings?

Remember that Time Zach Galifianakis Starred in A Kanye West Video?

Over the years, Kanye West has sort of become a parody of how he is represented in the media. He is brash and cocky, and for that reason, a lot of people have no appetite for his music (as good as it can be at times). But what if, let's say, it was not Kanye singing the song, but rather, overweight, bearded comedian, Zach Galifiniakis? Do you think you would be more likely to give an entire Kanye West music video a shot?

Well, I am going to go so far as to say yes, yes you will.

Because this was the last time in history Kanye West was still cool enough to allow something like this to happen. Now, he would threaten to sue. But once upon a time, the guy had an awesome sense of humor and knew when to laugh at himself.

For a great example of that, look no further than the fantastic video for Can't Tell Me Nothin' and be prepared to hate Kanye West a little less for about four minutes.

(YouTube Link)

You REALLY want your mind blown? That is the second version of the video he released. The first version is all Kanye Bravado. The second one, on the other hand, is pure gold.

Let's Do Nothing in Video Games

Anyone who has been playing video games for a huge portion of their lives can tell you, if you put the controller down and let the character just idle, there will often be a special animation you are treated to. It varies from character to character, and seems to involve the character either breaking the fourth wall (think Sonic the Hedgehog), which you will see in this video, to characters who just seem bored and want to entertain themselves while you are ignoring them. They are sometimes funny, sometimes snarky, but always incredibly witty and help foster the love most of us have for gaming. It's nerd stuff added to nerd stuff, which makes it even MORE cool.

(YouTube Link)

YouTube User Master of Hyrule has put together this pretty awesome collection of idle animations from many video games over the past years. You don't even have to be a gamer to appreciate the thought and work put into some of these animations, even though the developers were aware some people may never slow down enough to apprecite them.

Well, now we can.

It almost makes you stop for a moment and wonder what other wondeful little things you may have missed in some of these games.
