I'll add that time seems to move faster as you get older. I'm 76 and weeks seems to fly by. Remember when you were a kid how summer seemed an eternity.

It wasn't until I was older and had a grasp of history that I realized those guys were probably worried that they would ever get home. They may not have had any idea of the devastation of Germany at that time. I read that many who were farmers and worked on farms in CNY came back and bought land and farmed it after the war.

Remembering a POW facility at the old high school in Newark NY when I visited my Grandfather. I'd see the Germans sitting in the yard smoking, and walked on the other side of the street as I was afraid of them. Some of the "trustee" POWs worked in factories in Syracuse cleaning windows and such. My Dad who spoke German was one of the guys at the plant where he worked who oversaw the POWs. He told me there were Italian prisoners too who had Italian speaking overseers. I'm sure they were happy the war was over for them, but probably most just wanted to get home. Interesting history of which I saw a portion.

Memories of riding on the milk man's wagon when they used them during WW2 because of gasoline rationing. Was cool for the milk man as the horse would walk down the street a ways as the milkman was making deliveries. It's also how I learned to "hit the ground running" for real. After rationing ended they went back to trucks and we were not allowed to ride in them.

There's a landowner down the road from us that keeps a herd of goats on some prime commercial/residential land. Pays low taxes on agricultural property. He's sitting on a "gold mine" of course, and some day will probably sell it for huge $$$.

Props to those kids for making their graduation ceremony so memorable.

Funniest ever---Newhart. Where Bob wakes up in bed with Suzanne Pleshette and tells her about the nightmare he had as the owner of a Vermont Inn. Coolest ending was St.Elsewhere. Kafka anyone ?

I had a cat, well he lived with us, that had a bad habit of taking a nap in the street. We lived on a street that was normally only used by the folks who lived there. They would drive around him, maybe out of respect that he had rid the neighborhood of all vermin. When I was off to college I got the bad news that he got hit. My uncle found him and took him to the vets, but it was too late.

I can honestly say that I do not recall watching one minute of any of those shows. One show that really disappointed me was Bob Newhart's follow up to the hilarious "Newhart" innkeeper show. It was Bob as a cartoonist or something like that. Put it into the "what were they thinking" category.

Remembering my grandmother got eggs from an old Swiss farmer. They were Jumbo, loved the way he said "Chumbo" eggs and almost all were double-yolkers.

Last year we had a box of frozen salmon I had purchased at our local grocery store the week before. MrsO cooked it up and served it. I took a bite and it was like cardboard. YUCK. Not edible. Checked the package and the due/use by date was 2009 ! Complaints at the store got me a $25 gift card, to the frozen fish company a coupon for two new meals. I check things like milk and juice, but who would have thought I needed to check frozen food? I do now. I would hope the folks that stock the frozen food section rotate the products carefully.
