SEX refers to the biological make-up, ie: boy/girl sex organs, chromosomes; GENDER refers to the socially constructed identity in which you recognize yourself. it's different with humans because we have a free will, whereas DOGS do not. it's inaccurate to compare this to a dog changing to a pig; those are two different species. only 1% of the US population is born with ambiguous sex organs, and if it seems as though one might be more prevelant than the other, doctors will go ahead and "correct" it by removing the lesser of the two. just imagine-- you're born with both sex organs and they "correct" you to be a girl. what if later in life you found out about this and your entire perspective is turned upside down because you could have been someone else? everyone in your life has known you as a girl, but now you feel like you've been denied a certain truth. just imagine the mental anquish you put yourself through.. the pressures of becoming a teenager ON TOP of not even feeling how you're "supposed" to. imagine telling your friends and family that you no longer identify yourself as a woman, rather, a man who unfortunately now LOOKS like a woman? what if your parents are die-hard Christians and don't support your decision because that's not what "God" wants? And then the story changes if you're still attracted to men then you'll be a GAY transsexual. then you'll be cast out by your parents, men and women alike, AND the gay community. wow, what a predicament. many people in this situation end up committing suicide. many other people stay in the closet and live a lie, completely tearing their insides apart and denying their own free will to appease societal standards set by people who say "if you're born a man, you will remain a man."
i'm sorry, but society sucks. people are ridiculed for being BORN a certain way. they're discriminated against and brought down to a "tolerable" level, and we wonder why minorities commit more crimes. just think about what you say before you say it, know who you're talking to, and don't make assumptions that Xie Xiaoxing wants to be called "he" just because he was born that way.
no excuse for the limited size except that they haven't gotten around to it yet. don't worry, it will come. and when it does, men and children from around the world will say "wife/mom, you are great and we don't appreciate you enough. let's split up the household chores so that you feel like we actually contribute to the integrity of our family. thank you honey/mommy dearest for cleaning up for me in the past, but now with the use of the handy-dandy slipper genie, I will clean up after YOU!" oh man, this is totally just perpetuating gender roles in the household, but it just goes to show you how ridiculous product development is and that genuine equality will never be reached with these stereotypic mentalities. i know this takes the post to a different spectrum that nobody really enjoys being forced to read, but i just wanted to point out how ingrained gender roles are. i've been inundated(sp?) with gender crap this quarter at school, so even i am hoping my gender-equality comments die down a little bit... i just get really mad sometimes and take it out on neatorama and all of its lovely readers.

yea, honey bees are at an all-time low right now, which makes me wonder why these people haven't called in some bee keepers to harness the honey. they shouldn't relocate the bees because they would have to start all over again and they're obviously happy with their current dwelling. but bees are certainly an important key to the ecosystem and these people could probably make a pretty penny considering the teasure chest living inside their walls. if they're not about money, good for them and i hope they continue to live happily alongside their nest of bees. hypothetically, they could build the equity of their house..
keep in mind that royals serve one purpose: to be royals. they don't exactly go through extensive communications training, nor do they have much more to do than smile and wave. give the guy a break- he has no idea that what he says is offensive, and to him, he's just being witty. he'll be dead soon enough, and we can only hope that his kids (does he have any? i'm unfamiliar with what goes on over there.. rumor has it that royals shag like rabbits) don't behave the same way when they're 200 years old.
i love me some kitties, but the one i come home to every day is enough for me. of course i know that if posted only occasionally, it woulddn't be that big of a problem. maybe just lay off the kitty posts for a couple months, and then re-introduce them once in a while.
the ad pages are killing me too. they don't bother me at home because i have a mac that uses safari, but i don't spend the majority of my online-time at home; i'm usually at work or school, and they use internet explorer. yea i understand they help pay the bills, but there HAS to be another way to advertise. otherwise, keep up the good work and i will continue to come to this site!
i've talked to many friends about how awesome it would be to all of a sudden bust into song and dance, and wonder how many people would catch on. of course, we would always hope that everyone would know all the words too.
i can make a clover with my tongue, raise one eye-brow, wiggle my ears, and rotate my right hand clockwise while my left hand goes counter-clockwise. i discovered the ear wiggling when i identified the muscles that moved when i smiled. one i identified them, i was able to isolate them without smiling. and my left ear wiggles a little easier than my right one, but i'm still able to wiggle both at the same time and opposite of each other.
on another end of the spectrum, it could have to do with the fact that animals bring bacteria and allergens into the home. when they do this, their owners are exposed and are forced to react either by illness or allergy-related ailment. either way, your immune system has to boost itself back to health and it creates antibodies to protect you from future outbreaks. it's the same concept as a flu shot, except without so many needles and band-aids. with an over-all boost of immunity, you tend to ward off more illness, which improves your over-all health, and enables you to have a longer life-expectancy. but this is just my take on it.
