i had more to say and accidentally hit the submit button.. sorry folks.
anyway- i think in order to really make a difference, we need to come together as a society and work towards reform. things need to change and we all know the various reasons why. and i'm not just talking oil prices.
i'm really impressed with vectren energy delivery because they're making some good steps in helping us. they 'say' they going to phase out natural gas and use more renewable energy, like windmills and solar power, by the end of 2009. i think this is a huge step in getting everyone else in line. i think it's the job of the big companies around the world to take these first steps too, because they're the ones that control the markets. it would probably bring a tear to my eye if the big boys actually tried to HELP us instead of hinder us for their own benefit. that will be the day...
what i think is most important though is that in times of crisis, people come together and try to solve societal problems rather than individual. we're helping each other out by venting our frustrations and thinking critically about our futures. it really shows that people care and want things to change, and as long as everyone wants change, others will follow in working towards new goals. the challenge isn't finding ways to reduce prices to maintain our societies.. it's finding new innovations to get us through to the next era. times of transition are always very rough, so patience is vital. in the meantime, i think it's important for us all to brainstorm and think critically about the direction we want to go. cheers.

it's really irrelevant to compare oil prices around the world because moral of the story: EVERYONE'Spocketbook is slowly being sodomized.

yea i think the guy has a reasonable argument for himself, and calling them 'media sluts' isn't that far off.. i mean, what would YOU call them? i'm sure he didn't really want to sugar-coat his opinion because of how fiercely the images lie on his conscious (yea i know, this sounds like i'm supporting his lure to sexy babes, but i'm merely giving an example of his dilemma). it can't be easy to be male and have hot, naked women available at the click of a mouse, the turn of a page, and really, the turn of his head. again- not trying to justify sexist male behavior, just saying it has to be hard to hide your boner when sex is screaming at you from all directions.
i'm just glad this guy made the realization while his daughter is still very very young for two reasons: first, having this new-found perspective will definitely help him develop a more mature view of women as his daughter grows up. second, his daughter will likely have a better upbringing and won't end up a madia slut. hopefully she'll deny the images altogether and take the alternate route of modesty.

all i have to say is that nobody should really be surprised by this. it is called nature.. everything from truly organic to completely artificial goes through cycles and we can't *freak out* when we're on the downward. i think we have to give ourselves a little more credit as far as intelligence goes. yes yes, we've made some incredibly stupid judgments that are embarassing enough not to mention. but we've also made some HUGE strides, not just here in the US but all over the world. this is all just part of the redistribution of wealth and power, and i gotta say- we americans are exhausted. i'm GLAD other countries are taking the torch.. give us a vacation for a couple years and maybe our economy will bounce back a little bit. and then maybe we'll make the top ten list for completely new reasons. i just hope everyone keeps their head on straight and doesn't let the media and little articles like this one skew the perception that we're completely capable of living through what disasters we bring upon ourselves. human beings are the most adaptable animals on the face of the planet, and a little status change shouldn't have us running home to our mommies.

this is just embarassing.. and i can't believe he thinks its a legitimate complaint. he could only be so lucky to lose weight due to his bad decision. yunno, i always wonder how cases like this actually make it into a courtroom. i would think that SOMEONE would say "dude.. come on. you were over 400lbs and you're losing weight. hunger happens. you will not likely turn to skin and bones while being here, if anything, you'll prove that you're really only half the man you thought you were."
HA!

interesting. how cool would it be if they sold some packs with sugar cubes packed up into the filter so while it steeps, the sugar dissolves and makes it sweet too! or honey.. i'm a big advocate of honey.. support the bees! but yea, i'm sure the novelty of having a wet cigarette in your cup would wear off.

holy crap!! i love magnetic toys.. a few years back i bought a little magnet-building kit thing from the planetarium and i could not put it down. it is SUCH a terrible idea to sell a bunch of stoners a toy like that... needless to say, all the parts never make it to the next user.

there's a lot i could easily say about all of this... but of course none of it would make the economy any stronger. the sad part is that even though all this stuff is happening, people will not change their habits because they expect the government to step in and take care of the problem. i don't think it's understood that people make society, society does not make people.

andewdoane and cuimhne-- me too!! i was smiling the whole time.. i guess that was the point, right?
and fsmarch-- yea, word. why so serious, people? it's not like the intention of the video was to make you judge his credibility. it was to make you smile and be GLAD! and then think of family guy.

best line in the whole article:
"Michael Keaton's Batman fought the Joker first, then found himself simultaneously taking on the combination of the Penguin and Christopher Walken."
i love that the villain himself is just Christopher Walken. hilarious.

great idea. not incredibly original and "new" but it definitely illeviates the need for plastic stirrers. but you know what ELSE can stir your liquid? a spoon! thanks, genius.

i agree that it's necessary to explain this to children and the intention of the book was a good one.
-BUT-
why isn't it daddy's cosmetic surgery? men receive it too. we're supposed to be living in a balanced, equal community these days ("supposed to" can only go so far, i know) and be able to explain to children that EVERYONE has the same opportunities. this book perpetuates a stereotype (however true it may be..) that women are shallow and obsessed with outer appearances (however true THIS may be..), but MEN ARE TOO! i would be very surprised to learn if this book mentions a daddy at all, and even more surprised if there was a second mommy instead. but yes- this book is dumb and i disagree with it.
