Actually, in regard to lobsters, boiling them alive does not cause them pain in the sense that we perceive it. They don't scream (big myth that PETA likes to perpetuate), and they don't die slowly. They just die.

Hollywood Bob hit upon it. The neurology is different. They don't feel it like we would, for example. They probably sense that something isn't right, but then just die.

As for crabs, the easiest and fastest way to kill them is to basically cut them straight in half. There isn't even any residual nerve movement afterward.

And let's face it, even if they were screaming bloody murder, they are too tasty and nutritious for me to care.

Well, urine is not necessarily going to hurt you unless the provider of said urine has a contagious infection. It's personally not my thing, human or otherwise, but if there is a market for it, why not sell it?

That's because you are doing it right, Courageous Grace. Big difference between the parent that takes the time to discipline or at least take their child out of the way of others for the purpose, than the one that expects everyone else to put up with what they let their child get away with.

For the record, a newborn gets a free pass from me, but the parent should still remove them from most public situations if they act up.

I would skip the flea circus altogether and poison the hell out of them. They are vermin, and I have no reason to want them alive, even for my own entertainment.

I did see a fascinating show on Victorian life that had a whole segment on flea circuses. As much as I admire the creativity, I can't help but think that fleas are better off dead.

As long as they die fast before they hit my dinner plate, I have no problem with it. And I do know how to kill them instantly.

As a resident of Hertfordshire, and a big believer in ghosts, I must remain skeptical. I never trust ghostly photography.

This is so stupid. Seriously. I will be the first person to say that this is one of the worst fashions ever conceived, but the big deal that people make out of it is as ridiculous as Ed Sullivan filming Elvis from the waist up only. People outgrow these trends, which is why they are called "trends", and if they don't, they end up looking like the relics (see Bret Michaels)that they are. Something else shocking more stupid looking will eventually replace it.

I am against a lot of factory farming practices, for the record, and here in the UK, a lot of regulations are changing, which is a great positive.

Also, one should never assume that because a person eats meat without a guilty conscience that they are stuffing fast food into un-named orifices given to hysterics. Perhaps some vege-nazis would do well to find a mirror of their own.

As for eating meat, it's healthy to have a balanced diet, Neil C. Producing all that vegetation destroys habitats and damages the environment as well, but we have to eat, don't we? I buy local, free range, and kill my own when possible, but a lot of people would be starving without that factory farming, and I happen to like people more than I do piggies and the environment.
