I think the truth of this can be verified by most any teacher dealing with little kids.
My oldest son was born two days before my brother's daughter; it was interesting to see how a boy and a girl of very similar genetic makeup developed. One of my son's first words was "MO", used when he wanted more to eat; at that same time my niece had mastered three-syllable words; she could say "dinosaur" and use it in a simple sentence. But... My son was far more advanced than his cousin when it came to physical development; he was riding a two-wheeled bike at 3 1/2, three years ahead of his cousin doing the same thing.
It was a bit humorous and perfectly illustrated the differences between boys and girls. They are just wired differently, and anything we do to force them to develop at the same pace will just hinder one.

"...one of the biggest original points of the web was the redundancy..."
Guess some of those biggest original points turn out to be some of the biggest fallacies. My guess is that the system was designed like most any network only on a much bigger scale; there's no redundancy built in, but the modularity of the system makes it easy to replace failure points and reroute traffic.

Oh, and by the by; is "Sciencist" a new classification of mental illness? Just wondering...

To quote the dodo birds in "Ice Age", "Doom on you! Doom on you!"
I'd say that the guy is at least partly right, that the earth is more akin to a large complex organism, but this organism is a lot tougher and resilient than most in the global warming crowd believe.

Scotchdrnkr: Correct, the tower makes the call on which runway is to be used, but ultimately the decision to attempt a landing or abort is up to the pilot, as he's the one who knows his plane's capabilities and his own abilities better than the guy in the tower. With an angle of attack like that, the guy would have to either be very sure of himself or very nuts.
Just the fact that someone had a camera on this landing shows that someone made a decision that someone else thought questionable.
Anybody know if the plane ended up landing at Hamburg or elsewhere?

Yikes is right. I would think the pilot wouldn't even risk a landing in winds like that; at least choose a runway that faces more into the wind, if not a different airport. I'd think the passengers - and pilot - would rather land safely and have an hour bus trip than crash.

Out of the closet? That's a good one. Almost as good as calling the Clinton presidency a bright spot. You must have one narrow field of vision James.

That's funny. What's really funny is that Obama reminds me a lot of Bill Clinton back in 1993-94, and I'm sure he's just as full of crap as Bill was/is. Bill ran as a "new Democrat", on his way to Washington to work with both sides, and I foolishly believed him. I thought he was sincere.
Bill is the reason I am no longer a registered Democrat. If Senator Barack Hussein Obama is elected, I wonder how many people will end up doing what I did.

Read the man's autobiography, My Grandfather's Son (ISBN 9780060565558), and it will give you a better insight into Justice Thomas.
As for his lack of questions, it's not that unusual a thing. Most lawyers presenting a case before the Supreme Court try to anticipate any questions that come up and end up over-explain things. Add to that the reams of documentation that are presented with each case; Thomas does his homework before he ever hears the voice of the presenting lawyers and usually knows the case better than they do.

john.302 & Adam: A corollary to that quote is that a social liberal who is still a liberal after having kids doesn't really like them. Or hasn't thought very hard about their future.
Anyway, have a nice day!

Ummm... He kinda looks like he could be Bill Clinton's long-lost brother, Zeppo.
No worries, Adam; sinister coastal liberal elite though you may be, I'll still read your stuff. I've heard it said that a social liberal is just a conservative who hasn't had kids.

You can tell this doesn't carry the danger factor of running with bulls; look at how close the spectators are to the action. And I doubt you'd have someone taking a picture of himself in Pamplona.
