Take, for example, near-sightedness and other hereditary disorders.
God help us all; with people like bean in charge, nearsighted people would be marked for extermination or sterilization.
It's downright scary how posts like this bring the true fascists out of the woodwork.

Cool! The Dakotas get some love; Fargo is the best place "to raise children based on the quality of healthcare, education, public safety, transportation, the job market, and the natural environment." But with that ranking coming from Zero, is that good or bad?

That reminds me of the two kittens I found behind our house years ago. The mother was feral, and had moved all but the two, and they were next to dead when my brother & I found them. We put them in a box with a blanket & heating pad on low and fed them through an eyedropper. Later we found that pet shops had formula and bottles especially for kittens. That was pretty cool.
One weird thing is that kittens (and I would imagine squirrel kittens too) aren't able to pee on their own; normally the mother will lick their bottoms to get them to pee, and keeps the nest clean at the same time (can you say EEEWWWW!!??) I wasn't about to do that for them, but used a warm damp cloth to do the same thing. As the kitties got more mobile, they figured out how to do that for each other, and satisfied their need for suckling at the same time. Kind of a kitteh 69 thing going on. I took some pictures of that, but mom made them disappear long ago. Too bad; that'd be some good LOLCats fodder.

I'll confess; for the last six months or so my wife & I have been buying nearly everything on our Visa card. But with good reason; the account was a promotion through the company that has our home mortgage, and for every $2,500 we spend on the card we get $50 towards the principal on the mortgage. No annual fee, and since we pay off the balance every month there's no finance charge. It's all a plus for us. With this deal and our normal spending, we figure we can rack up at least an extra payment in a year. And all principal off the top.
The key to using a credit card is to use it wisely, and not spend beyond your means.

Oooh; remember the movie Poltergeist? That house was built on an old cemetery. I see this mystery ending very badly.

Reading through this thread is a bit depressing. Are there really so few who understand basic economics and how that plays into fuel prices? And how many really read the linked article?
"High prices are necessary if we are to reduce demand, find new oil, and develop alternative technologies."
But what the article doesn't mention is that there are so many who are intent on breaking market mechanisms to induce an early transition from fossil fuels.
"The problem, he says, is new discoveries of crude in non-OPEC areas like the United States, the North Sea, and Russia have not kept pace with the oil being removed from those places. OPEC, which holds two thirds of the world's crude oil reserves, has seen no drop in global demand despite $120 oil and has little incentive to increase output."
Politicians, unduly influenced by environmentalists, have all but shut down North American oil exploration. That is the true problem. We were forced to turn instead to so-called green initiatives like wind energy and crop-based fuels, which have created their own problems. If the market had been allowed to work as it should, fuel prices would have increased gradually, which would have gradually increased pressure on energy developers to come up with solid alternatives that don't rely on fossil fuels.
It's much more complex than that, and there are other factors (like the weakened dollar) that play into the equation as well, but unfortunately the attention span of the typical person reading this is too short to go into it at length. But the short of it is, screw with the system and the system will screw you.

"Why a fur seal would indulge in such extreme sexual behaviour is unclear."
Um, bestiality?
Or maybe just a stupid animal.

Seismic shift, my posterior. So there are bigger examples of lots of things in other countries, so what? What I'd like to know is why so many on the left are in such a hurry to usher in the demise of the United States.
The founders of this country did something incredibly right, and that has led to the US being a shining example of what can become of a land where freedom and liberty are recognized God-given rights. If the US falters and wanes, I would place the blame directly on the shoulders of those who are trying to lead us away from our roots and down the path of socialism.
------------
@ Avier said: "Only yourselves say “americans”. The rest of the world uses the real name."
So, what should citizens of the United States call themselves? US-ians? Statsians? When people say "America" they're rarely referring to Central or South America. Almost universally they refer to The United States Of America.

I thought I'd have a little fun by doing a little role playing. First I played the pacifist left-wing weasel, and kept my weapon holstered the whole time by holding the Z button. If we follow the Jimmy Carter example, we need to negotiate with these guys; after all, they have feelings too.
Your Score: -1750
Average reaction time:
Black Armed:58.4ms
Black Unarmed:54.4ms
White Armed:53.28ms
White Unarmed:56.2ms
My score sucked, and to add injury to insult, I was shot more times than I'd care to count. And that usually means you're dead. Hmmm.
So then I thought I'd play the stereotypical right-wing gun-nut, shooting everybody that got in my way...
Your Score: -500
Average reaction time:
Black Armed:60.48ms
Black Unarmed:55.16ms
White Armed:68.2ms
White Unarmed:55.72ms
So I guess the moral of this story is that if you try and talk with thugs, not only does your score suck, but you get filled with lead. But if you shoot first & ask questions later, you end up scoring better than the weasel, and you get the added bonus of staying alive.
Or maybe this is just a seriously flawed test. Yeah, I think that's it.

Anybody know how much co2 that puppy is dumping into the atmosphere? Yet nobody's blaming it for global warming.
