YouTube Link

Bonnie is a Chihuahua who was recently rescued and is thrilled to finally be part of a family. She's so happy hanging with her new pack that her human says she wouldn't dream of eating without canine brother Clyde. As soon as Bonnie's food is put down, her first order of business is to move her dish so that she can be next to Clyde before she digs in. -Via Tastefully Offensive

R2-D2 Airplane

This B787-9 Dreamliner jet is a collaboration between the Star Wars franchise and the Japanese airline ANA. This baby is no overweight glob of grease. It's surely able to project holograms as passenger entertainment and fix itself of any malfunctions in-flight. -Via Gizmodo

YouTube Link

Here we have the official teaser trailer to Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, the release of which was moved up by three days after a blurry, pirated version was leaked yesterday. The trailer was posted by director Zack Snyder on Twitter. There is an IMAX trailer still to come, which Snyder says will be different. The film, starring Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams and others making up a star-studded, ensemble cast, is due to be released on March 25, 2016.

A Contender for the Most Demanding First Birthday Invitation Ever

Redditor razz32 obviously saw the entertainment value in this email invitation he received to the celebration (?) of a one-year-old child's birthday, as he posted it to Reddit. The email leaves no question as to pretty much any move that anyone planning to attend could make. If someone showing up at this party has an itch, it's a good bet that a protocol has been devised by these parents as to how it should be scratched.

As you can see, the image above is only a portion of the requests included in this gracious invite. See the missive in its entirety here. -Via Mashable

Three Friends Challenge Each Other to Find Their Dopplegängers

Harry, Niamh and Terence are three friends who have issued each other an interesting challenge: they have to find their dopplegängers, and everyone in the world is a possible candidate. Their exercise, which they're calling "Twin Strangers," is underway, and Niamh has already got a serious contender.

Recently 26-year-old Niamh met look-alike 29-year-old Karen, video footage of which is shown above (a video description of their project is shown below). As ladies are wont to do, they experimented with hair and makeup to make themselves look even more alike. The result is pretty dead on target. The two women met by way of publicity on social media. If their looks aren't enough of a similarity, it turns out that they live just an hour apart from each other in Ireland.

It looks as if Harry and Terence have their work cut out for them. The three started the project on March 30 and gave themselves a deadline of one month. So the heat is on, as they say. Check out their YouTube channel for continued updates on Twin Strangers. -Via Laughing Squid

Silverback Gorilla Smashes Glass at Omaha Zoo

YouTube Link

Frightened onlookers at the Omaha Zoo scattered yesterday as one of the gorillas suddenly rushed the glass of the enclosed exhibit and smashed it. A Redditor captured this footage of the Silverback in question, who had been fighting with another male just prior to the incident. Photos of the bleeding, angry animal later surfaced after the fact.

Having witnessed a similar incident at my local zoo in which a male gorilla suddenly raced up to the glass of his enclosure and punched it hard enough to shake the structure after a man pressed up against it from the other side, I can say how terrifying such a happening is. The glass didn't break in that case, though. Such accounts give me uneasy feelings about keeping these intelligent, powerful animals caged, frustrated and bored. -Via Reddit

Teacher Asks Students What They Wish She Knew About Them

When third grade teacher Kyle Schwartz asked her students what they wished she knew about them, she started a huge wave of response. Schwartz teaches in a low-income, Denver, Colorado school district in which many households are operating below the poverty line. Encouraged to honestly share their experiences, anonymously if desired, some students gave somber answers.

Schwartz found that many students wanted their name on their replies and didn't mind sharing them. She posted a number of the students’ notes on Twitter last month, which quickly caught on worldwide under the hashtag #IWishMyTeacherKnew. The project has become a movement for community fundraising as well. The teacher's empathy and effort to prompt honest communication without stigma or shame has touched more people than she ever could have imagined.

Here's What a Knuckle Being Cracked Looks Like on an MRI

YouTube Link

Recently, Canadian researchers decided to find out once and for all what causes the sound when people crack their knuckles. In a study called Real-Time Visualization of Joint Cavitation, they aimed to challenge the long-held assumption of many that sounds emitted during knuckle cracking were from the collapse of a bubble formed in synovial fluid when the bones of the joint separated. Yet from the result of the MRI the scientists were able to determine that "the mechanism of joint cracking is related to cavity formation rather than bubble collapse." There you have it. Another medical mystery put to rest. (I can sense your relief from here.) -Via Wired

Japanese Cell Phone Holder Most Likely an April Fool's Joke, Needs to be Real

According to one source, the Google translate information on the Japanese associated with this video says that it's an April Fool's joke. How one tells the difference between an April Fool's joke and an actual ad in Japan is a mystery I won't delve into here. But why, oh why can't this be real? Talk about a great gift for people whose phone is attached to their hand like the gun to James Woods in Videodrome! Let the manufacturing process begin!

Star Wars: The Force Awakens Promo Art Leaked

Masked villain Kylo Ren | Image: Tim Veekhoven (@Sompeetalay) on Twitter

Today is the first day of Star Wars Celebration, and already we've seen windfall. Just prior to the official Star Wars: The Force Awakens  teaser trailer two being released, Star Wars Insider's Tim Veekhoven shared three promotional images from the film via his Twitter account, some of which can be glimpsed briefly in the trailer. Veekhoven spotted the images on the Facebook group page Saga Skywalker Valencia and linked to two more images that he found on 4chan.

Also leaked prior to the trailer release was fan community Star Wars Underworld's photo of the new Stormtrooper design, presumably taken from materials at Celebration, which the group posted to Instagram. These are likely just a few items of interest regarding Star Wars: The Force Awakens as the Celebration continues. -Via Esquire

Sizzler, 1991: They Came for the Sizzle, Stayed Because They Were Big Haired, Freedom Loving Patriots

Whether it's a corporate motivation piece or an ad designed to lure all-American, choice-choosing, leather-miniskirt-clad babes and their Marlboro Men, there's no doubt that any fly on the wall of the board room that dreamed this up would be standing at attention. And likely saluting. -Via Laughing Squid

The Psychedelic Madness of Louis Wain's Cats

Louis Wain was an artist born in 1860s Victorian England who was as intensely gifted as he was mentally disturbed. His fanciful work is examined and featured on the internet from time to time (including on Neatorama in 2006) because his pieces, particularly his cats, are popular and his name is sometimes mentioned when correlation is drawn between artistry and madness.

Wain lived a hard life fraught with extended stays in the dismal insane asylums of the time, though notable people such as H.G. Wells and Prime Minister Ramsay MacDonald interceded on his behalf in order to get him placed in better facilities. Yet no one could help his desultory mental states that included periods of psychosis.

Wain once said in explanation of his process:

"I take a sketch-book to a restaurant, or other public place, and draw the people in their different positions as cats, getting as near to their human characteristics as possible. This gives me doubly nature, and these studies I think my best humorous work."

Read more about Wain and see the gamut of his artwork, from the whimsical to the bizarre, at Dangerous Minds.

First Ever Sketch of Wonder Woman Goes on Sale

H.G. Peter's first sketch of Wonder Woman, recently recovered from his estate, is now up for sale. Peter was the original artist for the character when she got her start in William Moulton Marston's December 1941 All Star Comics #8. What makes the artwork more interesting (and likely more valuable) are the notes between Peter and Marston underneath it.

Read the text of their notes, more details about the item and see another photo at the sale listing at ComicLink.
