A friend of mine was once volunteering in an elementary school in Indiana, and witnessed this exchange:
Teacher: “Okay, Johnny, spell ‘warsh.’”
Johnny: “Warsh. W-A-R-S-H. Warsh.”
Teacher: “No, Johnny, I’m sorry, the ‘r’ is silent.”
Friend: [Facepalm]

While that may even be the exact same helmet our neighbor kid wore (not "medical" per se, just protective), if they're selling parent-noia then your point is spot-on and I agree 100%. I wonder if was created for a valid reason and then corrupted to boost sales, or if it's always been a fear-monger product?

I'm going to call you out on #10. Yeah, most kids don't need helmets, but often there's a medical reason for them, such as post-surgery protection. Our former neighbors' then 18-month-old wore a Mickey helmet. He had severe aplastic anemia, so his body didn't produce enough blood cells. This made him very susceptible to hemmorage, bruising and infection, and him unable to fight infections or control bleeding. Even a small scrape could have been life-threatening, so the helmet was definitely justified. (After many different treatment approaches, he is now doing very well).

Man, that's a lot of shirts. It needs a search function to exclude things I dislike (zombies, Breaking Bad), and allow things I do like (Muppets, comic books).

I don't think I would call the cherries sufficiently consistent to serve as a good control. And/or I would consider weighing the napkins before and after as a better way to quantify what they picked up.

* As soon as I saw this, the "Ice Cream Jones" jingle popped into my head. I loved these in 87, and was fortunate enough to catch the brief revival in 03.
* I knew that I vaguely remembered a donut cereal -- now I have proof of Dunkin Donuts cereal. I can still remember how these (and many others) tasted.
* Did Mr. T taste like Capn Crunch? Blech!
* PacMan was pretty much re-shaped Lucky Charms.
* Never had Peanut Butter Cookie Crisp -- but the original version tasted better when it was made by a dog food company than by GM.
* S'mores Crunch -- another one of my favorites.
* Didn't have Kaboom until late 90s. It was pretty nasty. No loss there.
* Yeah, Oreo-O's were awesome (though awkward to say).

Some suggestions for a follow-up: Croonchy Stars, Morning Funnies, Nintendo Cereal System, Addams Family.

I know some people who pronounce "almonds" without the "l" (i.e., "ammonds"). Why? Because when you harvest them (using the method shown above), you "shake the L out of them."

I agree that they look like geese to me. However, the guy who actually dresses them is supposedly a farmer, and he calls them ducks, so I have a hard time arguing. On the other hand, he is from Australia. Maybe it's a "fries vs chips" issue, where what we call geese, they call ducks?

Making fun of the imperial system is like playing "don't hit yourself" with a quadriplegic (with apologies to anybody who finds that offensive) -- it's too easy. But doing it with a bunch of obscure units that nobody uses makes him look like he would do it for hours. There's enough to make fun of in units that are actually used, so he just looks like a ranting idiot.

Mike, you missed the kicker -- the OLDER twin celebrates his birthday AFTER the younger twin.

It also works if mom was going east and crossed the International Date Line. Terry was born Mar 1 at say 5 pm. 15 minutes later, the boat crosses the line and it becomes Feb 28, 6:15 pm. Kerry is born 15 minutes after that. Again, it relies on the leap year trick.

It gets better -- notice the number of 0s on each side of 666? Yeah, there's 13 per side. And the total number of digits is 31 (13 reversed). What a great number to remember for Halloween!

Teefury had a Hellboy/Elmo shirt the other day that made me laugh: http://www.teefury.com/archive/1544/_Hellmo/

Years ago, I sketched the Looney Tunes character Gossamer in a Captain America costume to create Captain GossAmerica. I also sketched Iron Marv (Marvin the Martian/Iron Man) and The Mighty Pork (Porky Pig/Thor), and I think I started on Duckeye (Daffy Duck/Hawkeye), and had a ton of other ideas. Unfortunately, I'm definitely not much of an artist, so I didn't go any farther. Hmmm, I wonder where I have those sketches...
