What constitutes a frown or a smile? Are they talking genuine facial expressions with the eyes and forehead and everything involved? Because if that's the case, I would still think it takes more muscles to frown.
I agree with John J. Sorry, astroman. These kinds of revelations are the only way Rowling's going to get any attention, now that the series is finished.
Or is it? Maybe she'll come out with a new series called "Albus: The Lost Years". Of course, it would have to go in an entirely different section in the bookstore...
Sounds to me like he was confusing innate intelligence with acquired intelligence. Of course people are going to seem less intelligent if they haven't had the educational opportunities to develop their brains!
If white people had to live in the awful conditions of some Third World countries (or even the substandard conditions that exist in some parts of the Western world), we'd probably be considered "dumb" as a race, too (although there's already plenty of evidence that we're not that bright). :P
When I first heard the story, I assumed that the children in question were "young children"... you know, four or five years old. But they're pre-teen girls! I don't understand that part of it at all. Ellen was allowed to adopt a dog into a home that already had other animals (a situation which ended up being a problem); I don't understand how two pre-teens who want to love a puppy are more dangerous than cats who don't want to make room for a newcomer.
Ellen made a mistake, which she freely admitted. But the woman who runs the dog rescue is punishing the girls, which isn't right. From the nasty comments she's made, I suspect she's a closet homophobe who's just trying to take Ellen down. Well, she's made her choice and she's going to have to live with the consequences. She'd better not start whining about how her business is in trouble -- she brought it on herself!
They'll have to come up with a term to replace "soulmates", then. Unless people are going to argue that robots have souls (and it's already hard enough to argue that humans do!).
Most Canadians probably have a bunch of Canadian Tire money sitting around. Some of the stores now have boxes where you can donate it to charity (for those of us who can't be bothered to save up for a power tool in 10-cent increments!).
Evolution exists, Weakly. It's just that, in the past, people like this would have died from their condition. Now, thanks to advances in medicine, they get to grow up and irresponsibly pass on their genes.
In my experience, those are some pretty allergenic foods they're letting him eat. I find it odd that he can tolerate heavy metal-laden tuna and not leafy green vegetables.
I would stay put if I were that age, too. After seeing aged family members die soon after major changes in their accommodations, I'd have to say that her point of view is valid (and not necessarily stubborn). She wants familiarity. I'm sure she couldn't care less about the money she's being offered. What's she going to do with a million dollars at age 86? Buy a Ferrari and go shopping in Milan?
I had the same thought as William. It's like a bad science fiction movie. The first step to robots taking over the world? Crushing all the faces of women who were unwise enough to strap themselves into this contraption!
But I hope it works... and that other countries can put the same principles into practice!
