People can't always move closer to their jobs, Jerse. That's part of the problem. People live in the suburbs because, in the past, the price of gas for commuting was less than what it would cost to live in the city. If your job is in a downtown area, and you can't afford the increased price of gasoline, you're sure as hell not going to be able to afford to live closer to your job!
Fuel-efficient cars might be a more realistic goal for most people.
I don't know. What do you do with that after the prom? Or for the next few hundred years, for that matter? At least silk would have eventually broken down.
We already have Tasers, and they're sometimes abused by those in power (the local transit police were shooting people who hadn't paid their fares!). Can you imagine what they'd do if they had phasers?
I can't imagine trying to drive with a dog in your lap. It would make me nervous. And I can't believe people used to have their kids sitting (unrestrained) on their laps in the front seat (whether they were driving or not). We need laws to protect people from their own stupidity or ignorance. Although, I guess these kinds of laws usually protect the dumb people, because anyone with any intelligence would realize how dangerous this is!
As for children getting fat with it, well, blame the parents. If they're going to let their able-bodied child sit in front of a screen and only make movements with their eyes for hours on end, then it's up to them to deal with the consequences.

"Go back to clubbing baby seals if you don’t like it."
What does that have to do with basketball? Or this article, for that matter?
Or was it just a cheap shot because you're an insecure little man/woman?

Oops... did I say that out loud? :)
