One day in class someone stuck up their middle finger and said "bing!" ( which is why I am still laughing everytime I see the commercial). Soon "bing!" became the phrase and we all knew what it meant. Soon the teachers also knew and it was unofficially banned to say it in class. So I can understand why "meep" would get banned. Life moves on if only in circles. :p
