It's amazing that on a site where you see staged or Photoshopped pictures constantly, people seeing stuff like this instantly believe it. Your lives on the Internet will be easier is you always assume it's a joke first.

Mystery Science Theater 3000 did this gag in like 1996. Except they took it one further, and also showed off a "rowing machine you can use to actually cross a lake!"

The episode was Lost Continent: http://popculture.incompetech.com/mst3k/lost_continent.html

Maybe 40 minutes is an exaggeration, but it's still a terrible customer experience and it's still a lot of talent and time that could have been spent making their ACTUAL store better. This is just their version of the $2 million Superbowl commercials.

Wow, now there's a dot com that's guaranteed to be out of business in a year's time. I can't believe they wasted so much development effort on something so pointless and, frankly, customer-hostile. "It only took 40 minutes to load, but it looks like I can shop for a teakettle-- what the fuck!?"

Ok, so if I store water in jugs in my basement on my own initiative, and then there's some huge water shortage, so I use the jugs to water my lawn, am I getting "preferential treatment?"

Isn't this the same thing? These homeowners paid a company a premium so that when a fire occurred, they would have more fire fighting resources than homeowners who didn't pay that premium. Paying that premium was like my storing water, there's nothing wrong with it.

The WWF demonstrates again how out-of-touch they are to modern environmental issues. Do they seriously think that paper towels are made from trees cut down in the rain forest? Paper towels (and paper products in general) all come from sustainable tree farms now. Hell, look at the price of lumber-- it's too valuable to use for paper towels.

The world's level of forest has been *increasing* over the last 50 years, not *decreasing*. The only reasons/places where deforestation is actually a problem have more to do with local government policies and weak enforcement than usage of paper products.

First of all, Ari, Animals have all the rights they can forcefully assert, just like humans do.

Secondly, is this even newsworthy? I've had a kitten in the dryer before, she was completely fine, and it never even occurred to me to call the local media.

Quicker to just open the image in Paint.NET or Photoshop Elements or whatever, copy half into another layer, set the layer transparency to 50%, and overlap the two.

I say this because things involving crossing my eyes NEVER work for me. That stupid "magic eye" craze a few years back was like torture... never in my life have I seen one of those.
