Interesting facts Eddie!

Working for NBC, I knew Rodney for many years (mostly from his appearances on The Dean Martin Show and The Tonight Show). He was even funnier in person because he could say out loud the things you were thinking but wouldn't dare to say, even if it had a few bad words attached to it. I think I must have choked or spit snot thru my nose just about every time I'd have an encounter with him.

I had a suspicion about his drinking or smoking "something". Dangerfield always had bloodshot eyes and was impatient to finish everything he was part of as fast as he could. Now Eddie, you've cleared that fact up about his smoking.

I know that there weren't too many comedians that Dean Martin really liked, but Rodney Dangerfield was one of them he did. He gets my respect!

Who knows more about "The Beatles" than Eddie? I learn so much from reading your stories and facts that I never knew before. I just read in my local paper that this newer generation of kids in high school and college are now re-discovering The Beatles and another wave of excitement might be on the horizon. That would be so much fun!

I found the fact about Oliwia Dabrowska breaking her promise and watching the film before she grew older and could understand it better very interesting.

To go from making films like Jurassic Park to Schindler's List shows the talent and depth and genius that Spielberg has!

I grew up watching "Tom and Jerry" as a kid, and I gotta tell you... I never really thought about Tom capturing Jerry with a piece of cheese... The thought that stays instilled in my mind is Tom always carrying a broom to squash the little devil.

The very first James Bond movie I saw as a kid was "Goldfinger". It's amazing how young I was when I saw it (with all the sexual overtones in it) , but it hooked me. The car was the most interesting thing that captivated me... not the girls (to me they were so MUCH older).
The United Artists Theater in Pasadena, CA had one of the actual Aston Martin cars sitting outside the theater in front of the ticket booth with big signs "Don't Touch!".

Ever since then, I saw ever single James Bond movie that would come out... well, until 2008's "Quantum of Solace". By that point in life, I missed going to the theatre to catch the movie. Maybe the novelty wore off a bit, but since then I have acquired all of the movies, from the first until the last, on DVD. It was just in the last five years I was able to go back and watch Dr. No (which I never saw on the big screen).
Eddie's article is very fascinating indeed! From who was really in the "opening title shot" to the music lasting 50 years later! Even the fact that Christopher Lee was Ian Fleming's cousin! Very Interesting!

Let's hear more inside scoop on some of the other Bond films!

Thanks Benfett!

So... if wanted, does this float freely or is it attached and docked permanently? I had assumed that it was able to float or be driven by motor around a lake or downstream much like a regular 'houseboat' that one can rent does.

Gosh... Many, Many, Many years ago I had access to a storage building of "National Screen Service". It's the place where the movie theaters would acquire the posters and 8x10 photos from the movies that were coming or they were currently showing. After the local theatre would finish showing the movie that week, they were required to send all the posters and photos they had on display, back to National Screen Service (the theatres were not allowed to keep anything).

I remember being inside the storage building... it looked like a library with shelves and shelves of paper material. Most items were not filed alphabetically, but rather by the date they got the material returned and then just put on the shelf.

I remember seeing the original posters and lobby cards for "Horse Feathers", along "Duck Soup" and "The Big Store" hanging up (with Scotch tape!!!) above the shelves of other returned materials.

At the time I was allowed to select things for the television network I worked for, but I personally wanted to collect any Elvis Presley posters for myself. I didn't think about the goldmine I was standing in the middle of. Now I kick myself!!!!!! Those Marx Bros posters are worth THOUSANDS today.

I wonder what ever happened to all that material... someone smarter than me must have wound up with a fortune!!! (But I still have "Girl Happy" and "Jailhouse Rock")!

Living in Southern California, one might think it's paradise... but things have been changing over the last bunch of years. I, along with many others, have given thought to moving but the way things are, it's impossible to try and figure out where to move to. Everyone is afraid that they will go thru all the work and EXPENSE of moving, only to find the area they move to becomes like the place they left in a few years.
A house on a boat would seem like a wonderful answer for many... just move everything when the mood hits. I love it!
