Usually, it's the zucchini that does this. You look at the little squash in the morning, and do some watering. By the time you turn around, it's grown big enough to attack you.
Well, maybe. Years ago, I saw an older couple in the parking lot of Walmart. The man got out of the car, while his wife did some mysterious woman-magic, and went around to open the door for her. It was a sweet scene. I thought to myself that I wanted my wife and I to be like that when we were older. I realized then that I had to practice now, in order to achieve that level of seamless grace that they demonstrated. I made it my job to open the car door for her whenever I could manage it. She caught on, and took time to do something or another while waiting for me, so I wouldn't have to think that I was delaying her. We're getting there, and when we are older, we will manage the doors like Fred and Ginger. Older men need to demonstrate such acts in public, to teach younger men how it is done. It's an important responsibility. I don't do it because my wife is weak, or because it is required of me by culture. I do it because I hold her in high regard, and I want to serve her out of love.
When my wife's pregnancy was overdue, we tried to think of ways to induce labor. My wife tried riding a camel at the zoo (the camel needed a rest afterwards). I decided that the way to induce labor was to cover the gas gauge with tape and drive west on Interstate 40 until we ran out of gas. I was sure she would go into labor as soon as the car stopped running.
If you watch the background shoppers, you'll notice that their carts are empty, except in a few scenes. The store manager's office has two phones with cute ruffles around them . . . and no cords to the phones!
