I love the .99¢ Store. They have a odd sense of humor, such as the ads that advised engaged couples to register there, or the company vans that have painted on the side, in addition to the company logo, the phrase "Driver Carries Only .99¢".

Let's hear it for the wonderfully corrupting power of the War On Drugs. A few weeks ago on PBS' Independent Lens, there was this story about another Texas town, local law enforcement suspiciously antagonistic toward African Americans, and the War On Drugs. Tulia, Texas.

It's her property, her money, her problem. Not any one else's. No indication that the cat is suffering any long term pain, any more than being sterilized, or even being kept as a pet. Or even being bred in the first place.

42 and can hear it.

Part of the reason is that the audio file is fairly loud to begin with. Played through the crappy speakers hooked up to my computer it can be heard. the kids can hear it at a lower level than I.

The sound reminds me of being a kid walking past a store that had CCTV systems. It sounds like a noisy TV, what is it, the flyback circuit?

Another sleeper Spike Lee flick that I found to be pretty good was Get On The Bus from 1996, about a group of Africa American men in L.A. taking a bus trip cross country to the Million Man March. Very much about stereotypes, with a fantastic cast, and surprisingly sentimental.

Those Asian kids were always more advanced.

Just imagine, he's gonna be nailin' all those chicks in kindergarten.

And fer chrissakes, would somebody give him a knife so he could open his candy bar.

I love L.A.

Los Angeles is the place to be if you don't have to commute. Most of coastal CA is good. After living in other parts of the county, it's hard to accept anywhere else.

you wonder how many Naugas had to give their all.

None! According to nauga.com:

Q: With all the cruelty in the world, how can you kill those cute little Naugas just for their hydes?
A: We don't. Naugas shed their hydes without harm to themselves, making Naugahyde the Cruelty-Free Fabric.

But the billboards in BR were on airships traveling through the city

L.A. has those, too. I saw one just a few nights ago advertising some Las Vegas casino. Flew right over my house.

I think all this stuff is pretty cool, myself.
