I went to a restaurant one time with a vegan friend, after we were assured by phone that they had vegan choices. We perused the menu, then my friend questioned the server. It turned out the restaurant considered the food vegetarian if it didn't have meat in it, as several of the supposedly vegetarian dishes were made with animal stock. The owner seemed surprised when we complained.

Yes, everyone will be affected, despite what they think. It isn't just government employees, but what those employees do that will be affected, and sooner or later everyone has something they need from the federal government.

I stick to shopping at Costco on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings after work. That's when the crowds are the lowest, and I can often get in and out in half an hour. It means Costco pizza for dinner, which the kids are fine with. I have two teenage boys and the executive membership, and even without buying higher end items, I still get my membership paid for each year.

I'm lucky enough to have both a regular and a business Costco near me.

Echinacea when I have a virus, whether a cold or flu. I've found one brand, Nature's Bounty (yep, the stuff you can buy at CVS), that works really well for me. Knocks the level of symptoms down and keeps me functioning. If it doesn't help, or doesn't help enough, I know I better go to bed and rest for a few days, or if I suspect a bacterial infection I go to my MD.

Arnica did help some chronic pain issues I have, but I had some side effects that caused me to have to stop it.

I developed chronic migraines, and suffered for years while they tried all types of meds (I was desperate enough to consider the Botox injections). It turned out I was deficient in B12. I have to use the sublingual tablets that dissolve, but my migraines have nearly disappeared; I usually have no more than one a month.

Instead of s'mores, we would take bananas, leave the peel, slit them almost all the way through the long way, then alternate mini marshmallows and Hershey's chocolate pieces, wrap them in foil and put them in the coals. Heavenly stuff.

I'm a mom, and I can't figure out how my kids could steal my pop-tarts. I buy food. It's in the house. I expect them to eat it. It's my responsibility to provide food to my kids.

I think it's time for calls to CPS (mom has got some issues0 and the chief of police (for hiring such idiots).

What is the problem with redistributing some of the wealth? No one becomes wealthy in a vacuum, despite their claims. Most of the wealthy in the U.S. inherited most of their wealth, so it's not as if they're great innovators. They are very good at using government money (your taxes and mine) to increase their wealth, including government-backed loans (which they often default on), tax breaks, loopholes in the tax code, etc.

We are a society, and we succeed or fail based on the strength of that society. We are not islands that happen to share an archipelago.

Isn't it amazing how focused Christians are on sex. I don't remember reading anything about Jesus getting all stirred up over obscene graffiti, or porn, which any child could have seen.
