omg Ted! :D lol

Call me weird, but I like the crack. At least a lot more than the white canvas painting.
If you look at that crack, and imagine each curve and jagged edge being meticulously sculpted and painted in various shades to imitate a real crack, its a lot of work. Even IF nature could do it in a second.

You sort of have to appreciate it the same way as you would a set/prop designers work. Stage sets and movie props often look very commonplace and natural, but they take a LOT of work to get that way by people who never get a ounce of appreciation. You don't think about the scenery in a movie when its good. You only notice it when its BAD. If you didn't notice a thing, then most likely it was done by someone who labored meticulously over it, for weeks and possibly months.

plus...this reminds me of Indiana Jones and the Last crusade. Hmm... wonder if theres a tiny chalace stuck down there somewhere. :P

Give us 300-400 years or so and we'll probably feel better about re-claming the symbol. I think Nazi's just put such a huge stink on it that its going to take longer to fade away.

Hmm.. I don't think I like what this sign implys.

Men are lazy and they need women to bitch/whine at them to motivate them?
Women can't do things on their own, so they have to push their husbands to do things for them?

I think its semi-insulting to both genders. Maybe thats where the humor lies. heh.

Jeeze if you're not even going to read the books, at least try to save some money... $300 a foot (and that's for foreign languages. English is $400) is expensive!

If you live in Oregon, Every year EOU (eastern Oregon University) hosts a MASSIVE book sale, its put on by AAUW and proceeds go to help a lot of causes.

http://www3.eou.edu/sife/Projects/AAUW_Book_Sale.htm

I've gotten a LOT of old books in beautiful condition there, for as little as a 10-25ยข each. Local libraries often also have such sales. Random old books are cheap and commonplace.

Now... if you're a true bibliophile, then (like me)you have specific titles and editions in mind and that gets more challenging. But as some bibliophiles might agree, sometimes its the hunt that I enjoy more than the book.

The moulds are very well done. Too bad they didn't make them real lasting sculptures from a eco-friendly material.
I agree with "aware" though. Seems a little odd to see them taxadermy mounted like hunting trophies.

I'm guessing the message its trying to give is: "When these go extinct, this will be the only way you'll ever see these creatures. Stuffed, and mounted on a wall in a museum.")

I am a firm believer that people should be allowed to spend their OWN money, in whatever manner they want. They shouldn't have to be forced to help out the rest of the world simply because they can.

If this billionaire businessman loves his idiot daughter so much that he caters to her every pathetic, juvenile whim, then I support him. That's his right. Its his money to spend however he wants. (However I hope that dog gives her a nasty Zoonotic Disease).

I find this picture depressing. Hmm... No idea why, but I do.

You know that feeling you get, when someone drags you into the Kitchen-wares isle at Wal-mart to look at rubbermaid food containers? Yeah... depressed like that.

Just shows what we think of each other anymore. Irritations, like pigeons to be "shoo'ed" away. I can understand why they do it for things like pipes (that could be bent with too much weight), but planters? Sheesh! Why make something look like a bench if you don't want people to sit on it?

I should make an "anti-spike" city seat cushion for the elderly. Hard puncture-proof top layer (with soft cover), with softer foam under-layer for the spikes to puncture/anchor into (so the seat dosn't wobble).

You'd have to be a complete jerk to refuse a tired person a place of rest.

The thing to remember is that some homeless people aren't ALWAYS going to be homeless. Some aren't lazy, but are just having a crappy time atm, and a little extra help via a sandwich or a donation can help them ride out the storm a little longer till better weather comes along.

I went to an art college in Seattle in 94-96. I saw a LOT of students flunk out. Some had entered too soon (too young and weren't ready), Some were lured in by advertising and really had NO talent, many were amazing artists who just really sucked at math or wouldn't turn in assignments that weren't art related.

I knew a few personally that went homeless, rather than go home to face mom/dad and say "I failed". I imagine, with no money, or education, no family, and no address they stay homeless for a long time. And with that sort of pride, I doubt they turned to shelters. That had to be some pretty rough weather to face.

Some artists believe in their work SO much, that they would rather be homeless than work at McDonalds when they find that the job market for artists is scarce (too many artists, too little paying jobs). I understand that's also a pride issue, but I still sympathize for them. The "struggling artist" stereotype is very real. I often wonder how those homeless kids lives turned out. Hopefully things got better.

Ok...considering that I'm a Coleoptera-NUT about beetles, this is awesome. (I hate almost all bugs/insects/spiders, but _love_ beetles with a obession to rival the most hardecore pokemon fan. Gotta have them all!)
