I worked 35+ hours a week at Walmart while in high school plus studying and doing homework. There wasn't time for those extra-curricular "application-padders" that the rich kids were able to do because they didn't have to work. Yeah, it's a class marker.
Makes perfect sense. It takes more fuel to lift something heavy against gravity than something light. This is how air travel should have been organized from the start.

You're exactly right. To this day, I'm thankful my parents kept me locked in the basement and my only toy growing up was a single rat dropping I found. My imagination soars now!
