Every single person I know who gets a paycheck gets the same check every pay period. Social Security gets automatic cost of living adjustments. AND you can't be fired, downsized, etc. by social security!

I'd take a social SECURITY check over a PAY check any day...

So why not scrap age and sex as a definition? We are now defined by our interests, not anything else arbitrary. You want to target model train people and here's a person buying train books on Amazon? Give them a google ad. Who cares about age anymore...

For that matter, why are older women called Cougars but younger man-boys are not called Bait?

I'm definitely on the 'working conditions' issue.. But we DO THIS HERE, but with illegal immigrants. A landscaping company I ran across bought an apartment complex on the shady side of town and FILLED it with mexican workers. So snow falls at 2am and he makes one call to a guy who speaks english. That guy then goes around the complex banging on doors until he's got 30 guys crammed in to three cars and off the go to shovel snow for the next 24 hours...

Pretty much identical to the above true story and probably not too far fetched for any factory until maybe World War 1. Remember folks, we've bombed our own people (as in flying planes dropping bombs) over labor disputes... The middle class was a tiny blip in history and one doubtful to return anytime soon in any country.

I'd like to see someone make something from 'pure virgin steel' ... non of this 'recycled' junk...

Amazing what can be done when there is not only no government regulation, but government encouragement...

This is not new. Banks have charged businesses for deposits for many many years. It's just trickling down to consumers finally. The average consumer has no clue what it costs the merchant for credit card processing fees, bank fees, etc.. Now that they are paying their fair share I think we're seeing the shifts that are needed in a modern digital society... Change is a constant... and usually it's found under the car seat.
