Well I've been hit on the head by any number of footballs (it's football!) and I've headed any number of footballs and I've never suffered concusion from that. What kind of wuss parents do they have in Toronto?

Seriously it's elastic and full of air and weighs something like a pound. How could that cause concusion. It certainly isn't a hard ball.

I doubnt any pilot will ever leave that particular co pilot in charge of a plane on his own again. Surely he had the smarts to get one of the cabin crew to go and check the toilet?

Einstein you most certainly are not. I'm sure old Albert could have figured out that if you follow the link and click the image you get the full image with legend.

I wouldn't say that steampunk was fading away. The problem is perhaps more serious. A lot of people are jumping on the bandwagon without understanding what it's about and thus diluting the trend until it's all but meaningless.

However I must say I love the idea of Lego steampunk. But then I love the idea of most things Lego.

Why is there always somebody who has to claim any photograph or video has been "photoshopped"? There's nothing cool about being unconvincingly cynical you know.

Why? Because the previous government had a curious idea that the country could exist as a service economy. It didn't work.

Having said that Britain does still make things, but most of the large scale heavy industry has gone. What they do make tends to be small scale and very specialist, but tends to be among the very best in its field. Consider for example how many race teams are based in England. Many world championship winning motorsports teams that may appear to be from all over the world build their vehicles in England because that's where the expertise is. Just because the badge on a car suggests it's from another country, don't bet it isn't British built.

@Manticore I first saw Tennant as Campbell in Takin' Over the Asylum. It was a brilliant performance, he certainly blew Ken Stott off the screen. I remember thinking, "blimey he's a bit good for a kid". IIRC he was actually 23 at the time, but still a blinder of a performance.

If, however, there is a single defining part for Tennant it would have to be Casanova. Which was of course another RTD production.

I don't know about anywhere else but here in the UK tyres as landfill are becoming more and more rare due to environmental charges. They are recycled into all sorts of things, but one of my favourites is when they are chipped for playground surfaces.

Never thought of that one, but since my son already has TARDIS bedroom doors I think that might be the next project. After all I already have the oxford blue paint.

Steampunk is based on the idea that technology never got past the steam age. No internal combustion, no electronics, etc. So unless it's a steam car how can it be steampunk? And how could RFID ever be steampunk?
