I never got this weird habbit of learning dialogue by rote and quoting. It doesn't matter whether you're talking about the Princess Bride, Withnail and I or Monty Python sketches the whole idea just leaves me cold. It would seem to me to detract from the enjoyment of the movie/book/tv show/whatever.
Can somebody explain where the enjoyment is? Or is it some kind of OCD thing?

If you do your dates like most of the world then today is 1/2/12 and you've missed 2/1/12 by 30 days.
Of course if you do your dates the logical way around then today would be 2012/02/01

Fox like all the other "news" media connected with Murdoch has two purposes.
1. As a political tool.
2. To try to denegrate any commercial opposition.
Looks like they were playing both games this time. Their main trouble is that when it comes to politics they preach only to the converted.

It would be interesting to see a similar list of foreign shows imported to the US. Certainly all of the imports of British shows I've seen have been pale shadows of the original. I suspect that it's the case that any comedy show transplanted to another culture simply won't work.
Comedy is intrinsically part of it's culture and if you try to translate it to match another culture it won't work. It's curious that TV companies even try. Often the original plays perfectly well in the foreign country as it is.

I've never seen the original Law and Order, but don't for a moment believe that Law and Order UK is anything at all like the way the law is, or should be, practiced in England and Wales*. Indeed an awful lot of things that happen int he show would probably get a case thrown out.
*Note to furriners: Although the UK is a single country the law in England and Wales differs from the law in Scotland which itself differs from the law in Northern Ireland.

If the Dione kids are anything to go by very little has changed. Multiple births of that order still get masses of publicity. The only thing that has changed is the way the populist media (and their readers/viewers) think they have a right to treat people like a freak show, even if the people concerned don't want publicity.
These days the population at large think that other people's lives are just there for their entertainment. I'd say that when it comes to entertainment we've taken several steps backwards in the last eighty years.

@BR I know several people who have bats roosting in their roof or eaves and none of them have a problem with odor. It's quite common in older properties hereabouts. The only problem people have is that most bats are protected species and therefore can't be disturbed by law in this country. As such if you need to do any work on your roof you have to see if you can get the bats rehomed by experts and that can cost quite a bit. Sometimes rehoming the bats isn't an option.
The real problem for the people in the video is not the bats, it's the roofers. These guys clearly have no idea how you go about removing tiles. Repairing the damage caused by those contractors will cost much more than getting in a competent roofer in the first place.

"Doctor Who continuity is a bit muddled at times; this particular case is so contentious that fans have given it a name: the UNIT dating problem. Episodes featuring UNIT (a paramilitary organization that employed the stranded Third Doctor) were recorded in the early 1970s but set in the not-too-distant future, with “Terror of the Zygons” likely occurring around 1980. Later writers did not always realize this, leading to an overt and irreconcilable continuity problem."
Except that as any true Whovian knows that time travel means that time can be changed. Recently the phrase "Time can be re-written" has been commonly used in the show, but the effect has occurred many times in the show's history. Just because the Doctor experienced something in 1980 at one point in his life that doesn't mean it will happen in 1980 at another point in the Doctor's life. So any fans who have given the "problem" a name don't seem to get one of the major points of the show.

Why do these people wind up smiling in idiot photoshoots? Because that's the way the photographers of the tabloid press operate.

@bepp when you consider the only alternative to those boxes to be tying the dog up outside then you are right. There are however other much better alternatives. Leave the dog at home or find somebody to look after the dog. Before you decide you want a dog you need to decide whether you can actually cope with it. People who tie up their dogs outside shops or indeed leave them locked in little metal boxes clearly haven't thought through dog ownership.

Look at most photographs of the Beatles and you will notice that seldom did all four of them sport the same cut.
Old joke from the sixties: Kid walks into his local barbers and says he'd like a Beatles cut. When the barber shows him the cut at the end he sees he has exactly the same short back and sides he always gets. "The Beatles don't have their hair cut like that!" He protests. And the barber replies, "They would do if they came in here."

Ah, but what was the first car phone which could dial direct? I remember car phones around 1980 where you still had to go through an operator.

She's been doing it since she was two and her mother claims she's been warning her of the risks. So, mum, was your two year old daughter popping down to McDonald's on her own against your better wishes? Of course not, you were buying them for her. You are the cause of the problem. This is nothing short of child abuse and a prosecution should be brought.

Remember at times of a new moon the far side will be very well illuminated and as such will be easy to film.
