I would agree there's more political freedoms now and that deserves recognition. But as for the issue of whether democracy is worth having if you have to die for it. That's a choice that only the Iraqi people had the right to make. It's their country and their lives. Even assuming that the war was fought mainly for the sake of spreading democracy (dubious), we did force the decision on them for better or worse and clearly some of them are sore at the way things turned out.

I seem to recall that the giant chinese salamander (after link) makes a sound similar to a crying baby. The translation of the chinese name is "baby fish". This makes it all the more disturbing to consider the fact that they are going extinct because people are eating them.

Yeah, the apple TV ads bug me for just that reason. They give the average consumer the impression that macs are somehow completely immune to viruses. Not a big deal when there are few macs around, but as they get more popular virus makers will have a growing interest to target them. Seems to be a setup for a lot of aggravation... or the next "Evil Dead" movie.

Of course no one likes looking at pictures of aborted fetuses. I work in medicine and I've seen plenty of graphic things. Just because it's graphic doesn't make you right.

Several points:
1) the majority of those abortions are not late abortions like the ones in your pictures. There's a huge difference going from single cell to a baby.
2) If your claim is that life begins the moment sperm hits egg, then are you against fertility clinics too? Not every fertilized egg is implanted. And are you against contraception that prevents implantation too?
3) No one is pro-abortion. It's a tragic choice but the disagreement is on whether or not women should have the choice. I have a friend who was raped when she was young and I'll be damned if she became pregnant and someone forced her to carry the child to term against her will.
4) If you have religious objections to abortion that's fine, but to argue that government should ban abortion is a violation of church and state and brings us closer to theocracy. We should not be making our country more like the governments that we find so dangerous.

@ascp: seriously? The kid was 13 and unarmed. Even if he was there to steal stuff, Gonzalez already had them on their knees. On top of that he shot them in the back so his life was probably not being threatened at the time. He could've easily turned them in to the cops. This was not defense, this was an execution.
