Haven't read the study.

+Hate to use this tired-a** trope, but this really sounds like an instance of Correlation != Causation.

-The things Red Meat consumption is Associated With, not necessarily the [unprocessed] meat itself.

More looking-into, though...

I guess it just depends on whether or not you've still got the mentality of a 7th-grader.

Even a cute girl watching shouldn't make a difference;

-doesn't mean you have a shot, doesn't make her worth it, good, smart, non-trashy, loyal, disease-free, honest, non-goldigger, etc.

Besides, even looks mean nothing more than 10% scrubbing up and not weighing 400 lbs and 45% her parents' genetics, and 45% youth.

But above a certain cuteness threshold, it's about who she is anyway.

Sounds like these scientists studied a bunch of AFC amateurs.

say, schmay.

You Never go by what women Say. You go by what they Actually Respond To and Do.

This has been studied before and the Don Johnson stubble from Miami Vice is the clear winner.

GOD, YES!

AND, the dumb/uneducated/ignorant are also at-the-ready to discount the observations of others as being impossible, because there is no way to be more highly-evolved than they are themselves.

Another thing:
At work, you can sometimes get a grip on someone's smarts & how well they did in school,
particularly in the Scientific Method bit of coursework,
because you'll draw out a procedure they just do. not. get.

-Literally like there is an entire block of logical framework that's Not There in them.

It's like trying to teach winning techniques for high-difficulty Sudoku to someone who does not understand the concept of things like: 1, 7, or 3.

.
I hate the feeling this type of stuff gives me; and also that its turning me into the impatient, judgmental, grumpy old man I swore I'd never become. :(

Life sucks.
...Now where was that string-triggered shotgun again?...

How about The National Society for The Acceptance of Learning How Many Damn Calories You're Supposed to Have In a Day, Stick to That Damn Number and Stop Blaming Everyone Else But Yourself?

@ted: It's a Neatorama link TO AN ARTICLE WRITTEN BY SAM HARRIS, [Redacted --ed. No name calling, please.]

People like you seem so determined to dig their heels in, I'm sure you'd refuse to take even the advice of guys like Gavin DeBecker, Massad Ayoob, Marc MacYoung, Rex Applegate, Tom Brown Jr., etc., if they had been linked through Neatorama.

-yeesh.

For a pretty educated perspective on this type of thing, check out Michael Lewis' "Boomerang: Travels in the New Third World"

Here's a podcast with him from WNYC:

Wrong.

Lots of small actions add up.

Also, even as a Political, Awareness, or Issue-Lifespan-Continuity tool, all the little, visible, greeny things do matter, even in their smallest bits.

Because, it's the Congressman's daughter's,
mild acquaintance,
from second semester French class,
who had a unique way of speaking or being or thinking,
that helped influence someone,
who has influence on someone,
who has influence on lots of people,
and policies.

And if you think any of the cloud-chamber particle-collision chaos thinking is dead wrong,

just go ahead and peruse the masses of accounts telling how some pretty neat, big, well-known projects Actually got done,

and had about 1,000 near-misses on the way,

and almost never happened.

Only 1 Ex: Harry Potter was almost not published.
-It was the daughter of one publisher who made it happen.

.
This canard by Wagner is nothing more than an instance of someone thinking ONLY in-terms of Laboratory science,

in stead of Applied science.

-Two completely different things.
