Before shoelaces were invented, this device secured the bolthead closures to womens shoes and corsets. An overtightened corset could be fatal, but an undertightened corset could result in embarassment. Hence the term, 'loose' woman.

Its a homonculous extractor. in the early 20th century people complaining of depression, anxiety, nervousness were recommended to have a homonculous extraction. When they agreed, this device was brought out and they were instructed to disrobe and lie on their backs with their legs in the air. Not much is known as to how the device was actually used, but people never asked for a repeat treatment, so it must have worked.

It is a lock, disguised as key. The corresponding key looks like a kumquat. The strongbox it secures looks like an armchair.

Its a snaffle for riding a Narwhale. Eskimoos made them from the thighbones of polar bears, but once the white man introduced the modern miracle of cast pig iron, well, the Inuit nation faded from the pages of history. The books were returned to the publisher, only to find their basement printing house had mysteriously burned to the ground, leaving the warehose above completely intact until some nosy do-gooder pointed out they were defying the law of gravity, which is not really a law, but more of a local custom.

Long story short, I forget what I was saying.

This is a Japanese torpedo winder from WW2. You know when those torpedos are shot in all the war movies? THey never how you scenes of the sailors laboriously winding up the little propellers. The US navy were the first to have electric torpedo winders, although early in the war they malfunctioned and wound them the wrong way so they ran backwards and sometimes hit our own subs. Today's submarines come with pre-wound torpedoes.

Its a tool for adjusting tower clocks. As a young man I had to climb a fifty foot ladder carrying three of these (there are different sizes) to correct the town clock every saturday night. One night the ladder fell over and I was trapped in the clock tower for four days! I survived on pigeon and rain water and may never have gotten down except for the brilliant Idea of making the clock run backwards! No one noticed but after four more days the ladder fell up to the tower and I was able to climb down safely.

I liked the series until he stopped writing it. Then I realized he had simply rewritten the same book five times. The story is pointless, wandering, unfocused. Yes, I know its wildly popular and has been made into an HBO series. Those books about sparkly vampires did well too.

This device was used by scam artists Leroy Fitzgerald and Gerald Fitzleroy, who were posing as piano tuners. One would who would adjust the keys 'pitch' by placing this on the piono strings and repeatedly keying the note while the other listened while tapping a a 'silent' tuning fork.

They died in prison.

On a bar bet in 1957, Herman Zindlekress invented the 'ZindleKress Toothpaste Tube Repacker.' Days later his lifeless corpse was found floating in bay, an empty tube of a then popular toothpaste 'Pepson's tooth polish' clutched in his left hand.

The repacker device vanished, until now.
