Everytime I see anything about fire ants I remember my 10th grade World History teacher who told us a story about an explorer in either central or latin america who had a member of their party eaten alive by fire ants after he was captured and tied to a tree. I couldn't get that out of my head. It seems like the most horrific way to die, because it happens from the inside!

Those cats are miserable. Owners should never feed their cats anything but cat food, and the servings have to be controlled, especiall with indoor cats that do not get as much excercise.
Maine Coon cats are very large normally, but even the ones on this list are overweight.

He had a water moccasin in his car too, one that had already bitten him?!?!?!?!?!?! What in the world was he going to do with a poisonous snake and a gator? Who knew there were gators in Texas? This article leads me to so many questions.

A winery right across the border, in Virginia, hosts a "last meal" dinner with a Titanic theme. I have a friend who is one of the actors. I wish I could go, but tickets are around $70.

Thank you so much for posting this! I LOVED the article about the 5 smallest countries in the world - I was searching and reading about the countries you mentioned all day!

None of the pictures in the link worked for me.
By the way Neatorama, you need to upgrade to the new wordpress to stop that nasty blog hack that has been through most of the blogs. I have noticed something strange happening when the site loads lately... not sure why, but it would be a good idea anyways.

I laughed, I cringed, I almost cried...
I wish there was a follow-up so we could know what happened to some of those people, like the poor girl who caught on fire.

Okay. The magazine included a "thin film" that you apparantly tape (?!?) on your finger. They encourage everyone to use his fingerprint each time they go through a fingerprint scanner. I'm so confused. You mean, it would not be noticed by someone taking your fingerprints? Or is this just with digital scanners? Who in the world has digital fingerprint scanners? I've never seen one in my life. Of course, I am from a small town in NC.

The New Yorker article that goes with that video is worth a read. It is one of the best articles that I have read in a while. Who knew elevators were so fascinating?
