This will sound a little sci-fi, but couldn't they shoot it into space and blow it up after a delay (like a year or something)? Why keep that stuff on Earth? In the magnitude of space, 15'x160'x360' is nothing. And I expect a reasonable-sized explosion would disperse the waste so that, in the unlikely event anyone or anything encounters it, the pieces would be small enough and far enough apart as to be mostly harmless.

It seems like the correct next step for MTHS would be to reveal to the patient what the "morphine" really was. When the patient realized the problem was all in his/her head, I'd think the problem would just go away. But I'm curious if this is really such a good idea. Any psychological experts around here know what the repercussions might be from that approach? Could the cognitive dissonance cause more trouble than it solved? What would be the appropriate course of action for curing a purely psychosomatic addiction?

It's a very similar effect to (but more elaborate than) one used for decades at Disney World. As I recall, it's used on Space Mountain at the Magic Kingdom, and on Spaceship Earth at Epcot. It's been a while since I've been to either so they may have changed them. It's a bit disorienting and surprisingly effective at making a slow-moving ride feel much faster than it really is! Especially when combined with a fan blowing cool air on riders. I think those rides used fluorescent tubes and/or fiber optics instead of LEDs.

My fiance is a recovering Southerner who has the habit of referring to her female friends as "Miss Jessica" or "Miss Tiffany"... One of our friends has the unusual name America (I do wonder if there's a story behind that one) that's led to a foot-in-mouth situation for my fiance on more than one occasion. Still none of these are as bad as the Keene, NH code enforcer Richard Head.

Firefox is great and it's been my browser of choice for many years now. It's the best browser that I'm aware of, and I've used a lot of them. But I still have some big issues with it: it suffers from terrible memory leak problems and bogs down when too many extensions are running or too many tabs are open. I wish I could get better performance out of it at my high levels of power usage. There are some about:config tweaks you can implement but they only go so far.

One of the biggest problems that kills my Firefox experience isn't Mozilla's fault, but Adobe's -- Flash is embarrassingly sluggish and bloated on the Mac. I'm hoping they get their act together soon, and also looking forward to Chrome for OS X with add-on support and hoping that will bring better performance. It always bugs me how Firefox will grind to a halt when I really get working, on a machine with 4GB of RAM. If there's anything I ought to be able to do quickly and efficiently, it's surf the web.

Great, thanks for the fast action! This was clearly something important to a lot of people, and I think your response has been well decided. My only real criticism is pretty mild: the title of the new RSS feed is "Neatorama ยป Queuebot" which suggests that it contains only queuebot posts, not excludes them. It was a bit confusing to me.

I don't have much to contribute here other than agreement that the Upcoming Queue has made Neatorama worse. I'm far from an anti-change curmudgeon, but this change was particularly bad, I feel. Though as a web developer myself I totally recognize and appreciate the work that went into building it, and it must be painful for all that effort to be greeted with such resistance from the Neatoramanauts.

I'm all in favor of enhancing and expanding the site. The new forum is cool and could be integrated more tightly into the rest of the site. More detailed user profiles would be great, and an ability to rank comments up or down for quality like I've seen on many other blogs. Ranking forum posts as well would be a great addition to that idea. Perhaps rewards for highly-ranked commenters, or something else to encourage quality of quantity. This will keep Neatorama neat. And as someone above said, maybe the submission button should be made more prominent.

I can't stand this guy. I'll admit to having watched almost every video he's made (they're hard to turn away from) and most of them are mean-spirited and destructive. I'm all for harmless fun, but Remi's "fun" is anything but. Even if he was to pay for his damages after the camera switched off, it doesn't make the crimes he commits excusable. I love a good prank, but you can't just go destroying stuff for lulz and think everything's fine. I have to seriously question anyone who thinks this is good, acceptable behavior.

david23456, did you read Frau's link? These are smart kids who would be ashamed to hear people speaking of them in such a way. We're talking about ADD here, not Down's syndrome! All other issues aside, the school is being portrayed as something it's not. If the kids' disabilities were so severe, they wouldn't be competing with regular schools in the first place.
