I have a ceramic pocket/folding knife and it is the sharpest blade I have ever experienced. It is almost too sharp to use casually. The most remarkable thing about it is that it is extremely light. It is also an off color - not silver like a metal blade or clear like this sapphire knife but sort of a dark brown - it reminds me of the color of a video or cassette tape.

Here is a nice one on eBay:

I saw a great comedy clip on TV where the Naked Cowboy was in Times Square performing for a crowd and someone dressed like a Native American brave interrupted and confronted him: "You white man stole all our land!" etc.

The Naked Cowboy got pissed at the interruption and being upstaged and he actually physically pushed the Indian guy.

In the meantime ANOTHER Indian brave snuck up behind the angry cowboy and stole his hat and ran off with it, followed by the first guy. The cowboy was pissed. Hilarity ensued.

The "misunderstanding" in the ad has to do with the cost of Johnny Walker Black Label which is relatively very expensive there. I think that a bottle of Johnny Walker Black Label is appx. 500 baht - so almost 4 times as expensive as Black Cat.

The stuff doesn't taste like piss, but it really doesn't taste like whiskey, either. It is quite sweet and almost exclusively consumed with soda water or Coke/Pepsi.

A night out drinking with the guys in Thailand usually involves buying a bottle of some sort of (usually Thai) whiskey at a bar or restaurant. They wheel a little cart over to the table upon which the whiskey, a bucket of ice and several bottles of soda water and cola are placed. In addition to the waiter or waitress there is often a drink attendant whose job it is to monitor the fullness of everyone's glasses and to refill them constantly.

The ratio of liquor to mixer in Thailand is very tiny. This works out quite well for an all-night drinking party. They usually use the whiskey bottle cap to measure the shot - perhaps one-fifth of a normal American sized shot. As a result, you are drinking alot of soda water (or cola) and just the tiniest bit of liquor. You might drink 20 such drinks over the course of the night - ultimately having as much alcohol as 4 or 5 strong cocktails in the west.

Finally, some of the best Thai food is a class of food designed to accompany a bout of drinking. Appropriate dishes are often spicy/sour salads with meat or cooked seafood.

It's not designed to kill people. I am anti-military as well for similar reasons. I am still in awe of this aircraft.

How about the rumor (I don't happen to believe it) that George H.W. Bush (#41) flew to Iran in 1979 on an SR-71 to negotiate the "October Surprise" wherein the American hostages in Tehran weren't released until after Ronald Reagan was sworn in as President?

Pacifists are allowed to appreciate incredible engineering feats and physical beauty, too. The SR-71 is a very, very special specimen.

How fantastic!

I had [perhaps foolishly] always assumed that dice were a product of the industrial age. It's fascinating to see that they existed in essentially the same configuration as today so long ago.
