AK-00: Say what?? What the hell does obeying the law have to do with one's brow? Why does obeying the law and expecting others to do the same get one labelled as self-righteous? Are we so polarized as leftists and righties, religious and not, that simple right and wrong is a political issue? Yeah, probably we are. That is sadder than some fool stealing a donut in plain sight.

When my kids were small, we were in the grocery store and saw a woman eating grapes out of the produce display and feeding them to her toddler. My daughter asked if she could have some too, to which I replied in my most ringing tones, audible several aisles over, "No, dear, eating food without paying for it is STEALING". The lady turned red and left the area, my kids got a good lesson, and I got a good laugh. In that case, embarassment was hopefully plenty of punishment.

Obviously he hasn't learned anything from his prior punishments. He should not be let off the hook completely just because this time he only stole a donut, even if his trial shows that someone else on here is correct and he actually "shoved" the employee in self-defense. The concept of do not steal is simple enough that millions of small children are successfully taught it every year. Adults who refuse to abide by it should be punished.

In our school district the kids still get peanut butter and jelly, thank goodness.
My kids eat one about 3-4 times a school year because they didn't give me the note or I forgot to send in more money. Their school not only has lunch, but optional breakfast and a snack bar that all comes out of the lunch money I send, so I never know how much they've spent in a day, and I frankly don't have the time or patience to pack lunches. "The sandwich" is not a big deal and no one picks on them for it. In fact, once my older daughter ate them for a week straight because she didn't like the regular menu. I think the real people we should be angry at are the lazy reporters who make a story out of nothing just to piss people off.

Sid, you're completely right. In fact, I just found a tip somewhere that said if your hydrangeas are washed-out pink, your soil is 'weak' and you should bury nails under the bushes so the iron oxide will turn the flowers a preferred bright blue instead. I have another problem with these things though: I can't remove and restaple multiple times without turning my paperwork into a chewed up mess. This comes up more than you'd think. Paperclips are way too thick to file hundreds of them, and they don't hold.

Um, people knew the Arabs were awesome at geometry a very long time ago. It was part of the basis for their golden age of empire, and it's been referenced in lots of novels that I've personally read. Now, of course, cosines are offensive to allah and infidels who believe in imaginary numbers must die, but back in the day they whipped butt.

"What kind of moron spanks a 7 month old baby? The same kind of moron who would taser a 79 year old woman.
Lord help this little baby boy."

I agree completely, with the addition of: What kind of moron lets her husband spank her baby and taser her grandmother and thinks he's in the right?? In 20 years there will be a story about this baby being arrested for assault; we can only hope it's against his dad.
