Yes, we've got them in Vancouver, BC too -- bike boxes. We use them to get to the front of the queue for intersections. Cars have to stop behind the bike box, and bikers pile into th ebike box, and the bikes all go first. Lots fo the intersections even have a bike specific signal.
Another thing that I recently learned was a Canadian thing -- five pin bowling!
