Tragic as this is, I'd rather Neatorama stick to things that are... well... neato. I'm bombarded by news all day long, and come here to escape for a few minutes. Please keep things neato.

He seems like a nice enough guy, though jaded. But the fact remains... he was terrible in ep. 1. And I knew he would be considering how much his acting irritated me in "Jingle All The Way". One of the worst casting decisions Lucas ever made. The knowledge that George could have cast Haley Joel Osment instead will always pain me.

For those interested... some of the guys from Mystery Science 3000 recently riffed the Star Wars Holiday Special. A sample can be found here:

And can be purchased here:

The only way to watch it imho... especially if you're an MST3K fan.

Can't believe they left out Sambos. The one that started it all in 1957 is still in business in Santa Barbara, CA. but is now the only one left.

From Wikipedia...

" Sambo's had 1,200 outlets in 47 U.S. states. However in the late seventies controversy over the chain's name drew protests and lawsuits in communities that viewed the term Sambo as a pejorative towards African-Americans, particularly in Northeast states. "

As a kid, I always understood Sambo as the name of the chain's masquot (a cute tiger), but some folks are just too tightly wound up. PC will be the death of us all.

It's a bit of an oversight not to mention Poe's last words just before his death. It's true that he never came to enough while in the hospital to explain what happened to him. But he did have one final moment of lucidity, in which he uttered the words "Lord help my poor soul"... and then died.

Terrific... combine a toy that's already got a long history of injuries, and add rotor blades to it.

Y'know, it's all fun and games 'til someone gets hurt... then it's hilarious!

I'm not sold on the mirror method. I like to think of true holograms as something you can project from a distance and at variable sizes... in addition to being able to pass your hand through it without injury. Seems to me that the mirror method would also become mechanically impractical if a larger hologram (say 10 feet high) was required. What an unwieldly contraption that would be!
