Ted's Comments

James Moore, you do realize that your statement is laughable. Last time I looked, the Honour System was not a scientific system.

So, if historically, we have deduced that many terrorists are (INSERT HIGH-RISK GROUP HERE), it would be scientific to discriminate against all (INSERT HIGH-RISK GROUP HERE)s, and keep them off of airplanes altogether. But the only screening done is to ask a person if they're (INSERT HIGH-RISK GROUP HERE) before they board the plane. We won't even screen their luggage, or anyone else's luggage, for that matter. After all, they're not (INSERT HIGH RISK GROUP HERE)s. Because people never lie. That wouldn't be very scientific of them to lie.

I think that was pretty much understood, Miss C. I was surprised, is all.

Tina Fey doesn't really strike me as a person who is funny on her own. I haven't seen much of her, though.

Geoduck, those are pretty sweeping generalities.

Thanks for the update, V.N. In other words, they died together as a direct result of his negligence. Instead of being a warning to others his age to accept reality and give up endangering your lives and others, it becomes a sugary-sweet fairy tale romance ending.

Except of course for the 64-yr-old woman with the broken neck.

Yes, I laughed, but it does make one pause when you think, why did I just find that funny? Why do we find the idea of men getting raped funny, and the idea of women getting raped repugnant? Shoudn't they be equally objectionable? It's a funny world.

I knew a gay man who donated just by lying about his sex life. Thing is, are you going to take someone's word for it, or are you going to test the blood anyway?

Taking someone's word for it is like asking your casual sex partner, while you're undressing, "You don't have anything, do you?" or trusting that man who says, "We don't need a condom, baby. I've had a vasectome."

Laughable.

Yes, Sharrydan, because we never had those things when you were five years old.

The thing about safety is that your whole generation wasn't going to die out because you didn't wear helmets or fall in the river. But some kids did. the thing about safety is trying to protect that small percentage of kids who did die doing the stuff that didn't harm YOU when you were a kid. The kids who got their heads crushed in or who were murdered or poisoned or fell in rivers aren't around to say, "I used to do that, and I didn't get hurt". Why? they're dead. But hey, you're okay, and that's all that matters, right?

ignatius, it's called reductio ad absurdum, and is not twisting at all what binkie has said, but taking the point to its logical, albeit extreme, end.

Animals die out and other replace them. What's the point of keeping animals if we have their pictures on the tv and the internet? In that sense, why bother keeping them around at all? As binkie said, "Animals die out and others replace them".

I would rather see an animal in a protected area or captivity than see it die out altogether. I'm not a fan of zoos myself, but to compare a private collection of exotic animals with a large-scale professional zoo is ridiculous.

Also, go visit the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago and tell me if you can get the same experience from your tv.

Selling a plant is evil when it has evil results, such as the deaths of innocent people, rival dealers, etc...

The selling and smuggling of drugs is a serious business in Mexico, and they don't care about small matters like the preciousness of human life.

If alcohol and cigarettes were outlawed, no doubt there would be a brisk trade in illegal alcohol and cigarettes. Heck, there already is, but it doesn't score the big bucks that the drug trade does.

Miss C: You thought of Tina Fey before you thought of Joan Rivers?

I think men have a stronger inclination towards humour, and tend to look for humour at times that many women would find inappropriate or uncomfortable.
