I think Beowolf might be a little extreme for young children, but I think that kids could benefit from some exposure to suspenseful movies, like the Lord of the Rings. When a kid is really young, he or she won't know to be scared. When that kid gets older, he or she might be calmer when facing real-life suspense. Of course, this has to do with aesthetics. Ethics are a different situation, one that requires parents to teach their kids that certain things are alright in movies, but not in real life.

This is great, but it's too bad that so many governments ignore it. Of course, we agorists (and all natural law libertarians) believe in just one human right from which all others are derived: the natural right to self-ownership.

I'm most perturbed by the single phrase, "it is only greed which creates wealth". That's typical Marxist thinking. Besides, if the whole point of the article is to illustrate how you need to be wealthy to give to charity, then the above comment is self-refuting.

This article makes the assumption that greed and capitalism are connected, but one could say the same thing about ANY economic system. As an adherent to the Austrian school of economics, I believe that TRUE capitalism emphasizes freedom, not greed. Unfortunately, there's no true capitalism anywhere in this world. The US economy is a mixture of capitalism, socialism, and corporatism. If you try to start a business in the US, you have to get licenses from the government, endure the climb through tax brackets, and hire lawyers to make sure that you aren't being politically incorrect, infringing on somebody's intellectual "property", or making coffee too hot. Meanwhile, the government is handing out corporate welfare to your competitors, buying their products with tax money (some of it comes from you), and running the courts where you'll eventually get sued for infringing on their intellectual "property". So, what would Jesus do? He'd be a TRUE capitalist!

Hershey's made an ingeniously designed candy that accidentally looks like those heat-sealed drugs that nobody's ever heard of. Now some cop thinks that the candy "glorifies" the drug industry. This reminds me of those idiots who thought that a certain flavorful alcoholic beverage (can't remember the name) was too "appealing" to kids.

In a few decades, we'll all run out of oil. That'll put an end to most of our carbon emissions. If global warming is a man-made disaster, then it'll be over pretty soon. We need to spend more time and money researching cheap (maybe even free) renewable energy.

There'd never be a point at which I'd stop caring that about the monkeys, though I might not have the personal relationship with a hundred monkeys as I would just one monkey.

There's a darker side to this. In this metaphor, if we people are all monkeys, who is our human? What happens if this human dies? Does another human take his place, or do all the monkeys become free individuals? Of course the most important question is: Why do the monkeys even NEED a human in the first place?

IMHO, it's sexist. Perhaps for the next game, all of the students (boys AND girls) could paint themselves. Then the school can't kick out all of the girls without looking extremely sexist. If they do, then they'll probably get the kind of national attention they deserve.

I think Miss Cellania misinterpreted my comment, which was my fault. I was being sarcastic in my reference to the "right to get married", because our concept of marriage is entirely different than "marriage" in totalitarian nations. I think Nicholas did a great job of describing what "marriage" really means in Yemen. Needless to say, I absolutely absolutely condemn that kind of slavery and rape, especially when it involves children.

It's ironic that the age limit on marriage rights is lowered in a country where people (especially women) are treated like dirt. What's the point of having the right to get married when all other rights are taken away?
