I go to Mono Lake every year. The water is so salty birds float too high and bob around like corks. The tufa are really cool close up and on the southern end of the lake there's a different kind of tufa that looks like miniature alien cities.
On the subject of pets that just sit there, I have a betta fish. It swims happily in a large bowl on my dining room table and I pay attention to it maybe five minutes a day, longer when I clean the bowl. My reason for keeping such a pet? It's nice to take care of something. As an added bonus, when I do pay attention to it, I'm delighted at how beautiful it is.
I love her voice! I'm tired of the of the "oooo-oooo-AAAAAAAOOOOOAOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAO" vocals I hear in so many songs nowadays. The only alternative seems to be girls that sound like 12-year-old boys (listen to Paramour and imagine a 12-year-old boy singing. It's uncanny).
I don't think its torture. Some cats are really chill. I had one that you could put in a canvas tote bag and carry around the house and he'd just fall asleep. I had another that would viciously claw you and fight for freedom if you dared set a hand on him.
Such a wonderful video! Sure you can point out you never hold a scared dog, but let's face it - animals aren't robots. Even if certain training methods work 99% of the time, there's always the 1% that requires something different. And look at the final product: a happy, healthy, relaxed dog!
As a born and bred Californian, I was utterly fascinated by this video. I have -never- heard of milk in a bag before. If someone had told me that Canadians get their milk in bags, I would have thought that they were joking.
A friend of mine had a frog that would hop out of his aquarium (he had free rein over the room) and climb up her specifically to get his head rubbed. It was his favorite thing in the world.
He's just so INTENSE.
I wonder: do those "first-time parent" classes include infant CPR? It would make sense if they did.
What a strange concept!
Also: sleep anteaters are the cutest thing in the world.
