Having had a steady flow of the green fairy from un-named peoples in europe, I have "tested" many varieties of absinthe.
I had no drug induced moments and it is very close to drinking "Ever Clear". Those of you who have tasted Ever Clear know it just up and kicks your ass.
Absinthe is based in about the same potency of alky. Thujone in large amounts will kill and the amounts allowed both here, USA, and euro are so minimal you would have to drink so much you would pass out from the alk before you got enough thujone to "trip".

I think it's funny as all get out. Dad had a rule when I was a kid. In order to get that all important and favorite PB&J sammich, you had to have a cold cuts sammich first. He would buy the god awful olive loaf just for this. Saddist that he was, I now love the stuff.
