@MinnesotaStan- The "holes" in the floors in Japan are not like those holes.

In some older farm houses, the hearth was sunken in. Some houses also had a bench of sorts made around the hearth, so you could lay down maybe your soggy wet coat or whatever, while you had yourself some tea and warmed by the fire.. The bench was made from the surrounding floor. The holes are not intentional. They just happen to be an efficient design.

Also - I think western culture is not as adjusted to eastern cultures views of men crossdressing. Over there it is nothing. Over here it is almost taboo.

Wow. that doesn't do a thing to fix the crowding at Mecca. :/ Sure, making a second walkway so people can throw stones at "Satan." kind of allieved the problem, but now people are going to look up and think "OH SNAP!" I gotta get to the pillar and throw my stones before haj ends. And not one person will be reminded of this, but many people will. Probably creating more of a crowd than there already is.

@ ak4mc - my later experiment with it after the bacon was to turn it into a Monte Carlo type grilled cheese sandwich. At that point though, it was no longer a grilled cheese. A sandwich can only be called a grilled cheese if it is made of bread, and cheese. So when I added the bacon it was something else.
