They never came out and explcitily stated as such but I'm positive my parents would have been supportive of any decision I had made, whether it went against what they believed or not. I can't imagine what it would do to someone to not have that kind of support, especially for something like this.

I'm thankful my father taught me how to work with my hands (he's a local Mr. Fixit-type small businessman, also car mechanic) I was academically gifted and my counselors would never let me take vocational courses. I wasn't aware how rare skilled blue collar work was until I got to college and none of my room mates knew how to do anything. No idea how to run cable, add a telephone line or electrical outlet and one guy had his spare tire in his trunk that was literally just a tire as in, not on a rim. When he got a flat he asked how to change it.

I wonder if obese people sit more because, well, they're obese. Many years ago I read about the benefits of squatting, versus sitting. It took a few years of stretching and muscle training but I don't really need a chair anymore. I can get down in the squat position and watch a movie or sporting event like that. It's very comfy, now but when I first started anything more than a minute was painful. Of course it does leave you open to a groin hits which I'm always mindful of.

@Zizkovak I'm with you. Water level in toilets is variable and I'm not under the impression that I'm anything more than average but I've dipped into water before and I've also accidentally touched the side of the bowl (especially those bowls that are longer than they are wide). It's a terrible feeling that leaves me immediately desiring a shower. I'm not exactly sure what stacy lee's reasoning for believeing otherwise is.

@Jones why? so the janitors get to clean it up? Just do your business how you see fit. Reminds me of the lady who fecally displayed her annoyance of no toilet paper. Just awful. I wasn't allowed in there during work hours. I could only make sure the rolls were full and there was an extra pack on the small shelf. If you burn through that, I have no fixes.

When I got my first job out of college it was 250 miles away from my friends and family. I left for my first day of work with a sleeping bag, pillow, backpack, clothes and cellphone. I found a small apartment that day during lunch and was able to sleep there that night. I bought a mattress and a lamp that weekend and that was basically my apartment until I got married. I acquired takeout containers and utensils I used for dishes. I lived next to the library so I never really needed anything else.

There was a certain charm to it but it's also nice to sit back in my leather recliner and watch movies on my 52" HDTV while drinking draft beer from the fridge nowadays.

Well, in tenth grade, I was pretty sure I was doing whatever I wanted. I had a job working nights 5 days a week so I had my own money and I graduated in the top 10% which was good enough for me. I don't think I spent much time at home, including sleep.
